I was accepted into Upenn's Wharton school of business yesterday but have also been admitted to the Honors college and umich. Everyone is telling me that i'm crazy to stay undecided as i have been but i cant help but I'm a math guy and can't help but wonder what sort of mathematical i would be sacrificing if i go to wharton (i know umich has a great undergrad math program)

does anyone have any thoughts on my dilemma?
i also cannot ignore the sheer awesomeness of the umich campus and the great sports events and social opportunities associated with it

Go Wharton. If you have the capacity to be accepted into Wharton and you still want to transfer, you can do that then. Don’t give up your spot at the best business school.

Go to Wharton. There’s tons of academic freedom at UPenn, so I’m sure you’ll be able to mix and match classes so that you can make your schedule more math intensive. I’m sure you’ll be able to transfer plenty of places after earning a spot in Wharton.

Wharton. Not only is it the best business school in the world, but philly is such an awesome city and Penn has a great campus (although a tad ghetto for my taste).

Then again Michigan is so awesome and has an amazing math department, so it’s worth a second thought.

If your choices were Ross vs Wharton, I may have recommended Wharton, although unlike many here, I don’t think the difference between #1 (Wharton) and top 5 (Ross) is sufficient on its own to seal the deal. Life at the University of Michigan and in Ann Arbor is hard to turn down. There is no better college environment on Earth. I have visited 200 campuses in the US and 100 campuses outside the US in the last 20 years and I can confidently say that Michigan is far and away the most well rounded and complete university I have ever seen.

If you wish to major in Math at Michigan vs Business at Wharton, I would recommend you first decide on a major. If you prefer Math, go to Michigan. Academically and reputationally, Michigan and Penn and roughly equal. However, campus life at Michigan is nicer and Ann Arbor is much more pleasant than Phili.
