Umich LSA 4 year renewable scholarship.

Did anyone else apply for the 4 year renewable scholarship and not receive an answer although it was stated on the website?

D18 received an Email last week which was addressed to

Stating she didn’t get an LSA Scholarship.

Little disappointed in UofM whole Notification process for admissions, scholarships into school specific programs such as Ross and into the honors school. Especially those running into late April. Very inconsiderate of the kids who are looking to make a decision elsewhere based on UofM’s announcing. It really is self centered and not applicant friendly.

I’m guessing to protect Yield and up there applicant pool over time. Difficult thing is only those caught up in the long delays are the ones getting burnt in the end.

Sorry to the others who’ve experienced similar fates

Hi Sanchi

Did you find out anything yet on a scholarship to LSA?

Guess if it is your first choice you are willing to wait otherwise you set your sights on one of your acceptances and enjoy the thrill if you get in. UofM has operated pretty much the same way for decades…doesn’t take much research to understand the process for admissions and how financial aid is used and how few tuition discounts for merit exist and can cost less than MSU for instate kids with financial need. Not to many secrets with this uni.

Less than 5% of accepted students get any type of scholarship/merit aid. Someone needs to put this in huge letters on this forum page. No one should apply to UM with the expectations of any type of scholarship.

It takes very little research to know this. UofM primarily practices financial aid. With so many applications they don’t need to practice discounting. The Shipman is an example of one of a handful of true merit scholarships. They are building their financial aid coffers with ongoing fundraising but I see them using those funds primarily for demonstrated financial need. UofM will never probably need to “buy” outstanding students.

How do you know if your scholarship was financial aid or merit?
