I have gotten into McGill managament and Umich LSA. I dont know which one to choose. I'm an international student so Umich is more expensive for me, while McGill is half the price. People please help me what to do. I am too confused. I have accepted the offers of both colleges because i cant make up my mind...

Both are very large. Other than that, McGill and Michigan are very different. McGill is a great university in the middle of a large city, Michigan is a great university in a college town. Most people around you in McGill will be speaking French. Most people around you at Michigan will be speaking English. McGill has huge financial problems and you will feel it in the quality of the facilities and the lack of resources. Michigan is financially stable and has good facilities and an abundance of resources. If you plan on working in the US, definitely go for Michigan. Also, if you are confident that you can do well at Michigan and can get into the Orss school, go to Michigan because in Business, Michigan is clearly better than McGill.

However, it boils down to whether or not you can afford Michigan without putting your family through financial difficulties.

i'm going through the exact same thing as you, ali-g.. i'm actually visint at ann arbor right now and i'll be going to montreal next week to visit mcgill.. i agree with alexandre on the fact that if u plan to work in the us, michigan is better and it's biz school is esp strong.. however if ur a big city person mcgill would be a better choice.. and i disagree with the fact that pple around u in mcgill will be speaking french.. it's true that montreal is a francophone city, but in mcgill itself mostly all the students speak english and are bilingual... it's only if u want to venture out more into montreal that u may find that speaking french would be useful.. otherwise, u don't need french to have a great time at mcgill

thx guys...i thk i'll go 4 michigan...'cuz i'm planning on working in US afterwards...anyways i cant let go of mcgill...'cuz i'm from pakistan and after 9/11 getting a US visa is a big prob..so i case i dont get a visa i'll go 2 mcgill thts why i have accepted both the offers.

if i were you i would try to get my visa first....then decide....(apply for canadain visa as well..it takes a long time)

sirously...if your from a muslim country...ur chances now are extremely low
probably the reason y the students applying from arab countries has decreased by over 50%

several of my friends were rejected for the student visa (all from muslim countries)...one was the son of the saudi ambassador, one from syria, one was from malaysia, 1 from india, 2 from pakistan...
most of them are going to UK or canda now

and i live in geneva, switzerland.....you will have much tougher time applying from pakistan

i knw..datz da reason i have accepted both offers...my 1st choice is umich...but incase i dont get a visa then i'll go 4 mcgill..thx a lot for ur suggestion btw
