mcgill versus umich

so my friend got into both just now (sooo happy),
what are your thoughts guys?

Both are great academically and socially. The drinking age in Montreal is 18, so that's a plus if you want to go out. Ann Arbor is a great college town. Sports at Michigan are huge.

Some Canadian colleges are really underrated and might be cheaper too. Yes, both are good academically, so choose the one that's the best situation for you.

McGill is a very good university and it is a good bargain. Plus Montreal rocks!!! It is my second favorite city in North America (Chicago's my favorite). Michigan is very good too, and Ann Arbor is a great college town, but like most good US universities, Michigan is not a bargain.

What are you looking for as far as experience goes? What is your intended major? And what do you want to do when you graduate?

I would love McGill personally in this situation. I've heard, however, that it is somewhat spontaneously good or not-as-good depending on the major, whereas Michigan is somewhat similar across the board, so that could be something to look into.

I have this same question and want to do electrical engineering.

For most majors, I would recommend going with which school makes more sense financially and/or, depending on whether finances are an issue, social/cultural fit. When it comes to Engineering, Michigan and McGill are both great. The main difference for Engineers are the facilities. Michigan has more resources at its disposal, and as such, better Engineering facilities. But the faculties at both schools are excellent, so in terms of teaching, both will be similar.

They are so similar cost and academically, the fact that McGill is in Montreal seals the deal to me.

Which is the better school in Political Science, International Relations, and Business/Finance?

It is hard to beat Michigan in Business and Political Science. Michigan doesn't have IR, I am not sure if McGill does.

Do professors in McGill teach in English?

Yes. McGill is an English university.

I believe the language of instruction is English , but students can write papers and exams in French and English.
