UMich Rolling Decisions

Got into LSA from WA state, still waiting on Ross. I applied Dec. 30, so I guess I was an easy decision. I won’t be considering Michigan unless I get pre-admit, though, since I’ve already been accepted to USC with a fat merit scholarship.

So, are most people finding out through email/WA?

Deferred… Kinda surprised. Is it because i never sent my midyear? And are all deferred RD applicants notified in late April?

Got admitted after being deferred for early decision. SOO happy because I was not expecting anything until April :)

Just got deferred as well :(…sucks

I didnt send in a mid year yet either but I will now…

sigh

I was accepted today after being deferred EA! If anyone cares here is the deferred letter I received back in December.

Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts for Fall 2012. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review.

While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, it is still good news. Your application is one of a group that remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than mid-April, 2012.

Please refer to the website Information for Deferred Students | University of Michigan Office of Admissions for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next. Strong fall semester or second trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward your fall semester or second trimester grades when they become available.

Be sure your U-M ID XXXXXXXX is on all materials submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Because you are in this select group, we hope your interest in Michigan continues, and we will keep you informed of our progress. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year.

Sincerely,

Theodore L. Spencer

Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director

Yup, same exact message for RD applicants.

I was mindlessly browsing through the endless number of posts from last years RD applicants and saw that one person was deferred RD in February, but then accepted in March. So there’s still hope. But it seems to me that UMich just refuses to reject anyone and keeps people waiting forever… even in late April they expect people to sign up for the waitlist. From last year’s posts, it looks like UMich really didn’t have their act together during the admissions process. Hopefully this year is a different story.

Got into LSA today OOS from NJ!
SUPER happy!
Now more waiting to hear back from other schools…
(I sumitted my app Jan 24th btw… pretty late I know)
I’m just surprised how quickly they got back to me

I saw the acceptance on the wolverine Access on Thursday night, then my D received a Congratulations e-mail on Friday.

Is the “view decision” next to “view credentials” and “view application data” in the application status tab?

@shopaholic17 thank you for posting this! i was also deferred EA but got that same type of letter (apparently there were 3 types) so it gives me a little hope for maybe a chance of acceptance (even if the type of letter has nothing to do with it, I’m going to pretend like it might, haha!) congratulations!

Did anyone apply for dual degree? I applied for LSA and Art & Design, so I guess that means I have to wait for two decisions…?

Do they email you or do you have to log into your Wolverine Access account?

They emailed everyone. I think if you were deferred though, it doesn’t show up on Wolverine Access, cause that’s what mine looks like.

@Seniorr2012 same here!
@Shopaholic17 could you please post your stats if you don’t mind.
COngratulations to all who have got accepted!!

yeah my decision isnt posted on wolverine access and they didnt email me?

congrats to everyone who got in!

D got the deferred letter. Did the fact that the school had not received the Mid-year report have a significant role to play. She has ACT: 33, 12 APs but out-of-state.

View Decision is next to view credentials. Click it and a short Congratulations message pops up. Wolverine access was available first, then the e-mail. No mail envelope yet, but one was promised. Also, no mention of FA or Scholarsips.

Thanks pundad! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for that whenever I check WA. ;D
