I have been recently admitted to UMich as Ross preferred admission student. Still, I am admitted to Berkeley and have chance to be a Haas student next year. Both are great business programs for undergrad. So, I really need your advice!! Thanks a lot

All things being equal, go for the sure thing at Michigan. Even if Michigan is a bit more expensive for you, being a pre-admit is special and should not turned down. Peace of mind knowing you are already in a top five program is a nice way to start college!

Academics are the same. What are the differences in your particular situation, such as cost? Weather and environment will be quite different. Berkeley Haas isn’t a guarantee (about 50% of continuing Berkeley students get accepted), but if it’s cheaper and you like Berkeley’s environment, it’s worth the risk. Both schools are widely recruited and you’ll have similar employment opportunities from each…However, Berkeley’s jobs are more West Coast based while Michigan is more midwest/northeast based.

Haas career center stats from 2011:

I agree UCB that both schools are comparable, it’s just the pre-admit that gives Michigan the edge over Berkeley.

50% acceptance for Haas isn’t that bad. Certainly do-able if you work hard. That being the case, I would chose based on fit. Which environment do you prefer? Can you handle cold weather or do you like the sun?

^ Berkeley isn’t the greatest sunbathing weather… though that doesn’t stop weirdo hippie nudes.

The OP got into Georgetown SFS. I’m sure she’s a capable student.

^Well, warm and sunny at least compared to Ann Arbor! :P

Let me clarify though, OP. Berkeley is mild year round. Never roasting, never arctic.

I like Berkeley’s weather. Comfortably mild all year. It’s especially nice in the winter months when it’s freezing everywhere else, but in the 50-60s at Cal! :)

I visited my older sister there and we were wearing shorts and T-shirts, strutting down Telegraph Ave in January! The most I needed was a hoodie over my two week stay through January.

Don’t go to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. It’s too cold in the winter.

^ Deep breath, rjk. :)
