Umich sent me this letter.

I got this letter from umich telling me that I should send in my fall semester grade, and I will know the final decision between March and April.

What does this mean? Does it mean I was defered, because on my wolverine access page I have not gotten any decision showing. Or does it mean, they are strictly considering me and just want to use my fall semester to make up their mind?

THanks.

That's one of those "good deferral" letters. Send in your grades, and your chances are pretty good.

You're in luck, my fellow United fan.

which is the bad one then, what does the bad one say

The bad one is a rejection.

Are there deferral letters that don't mention sending in your grades?

no seroiusly isnt there two deferrals one which is good (stated above) and one thats bad?

why would sending in ur grades be considered a "good deferral"? wouldnt all the deferrals want ur grades just to weed out which students have kept academically motivated/see who to admit/reject?

I'm not sure if their are "good/bad" deferral letters, but there are different deferral letters. And plus, how would one even know if they got a "good" one or a "bad" one, when most of deferrals don't receive decisions till April. Every year, the exact wording of the letters changes...

And yes it means you were deferred, when I was deferred, my WA didn't show any sign of any updates, but I received a mailed letter saying I was deferred. It simply means that they wish to compare you with the rest of the applicants that are applying to UMich before they make a decision. So what it means for you is to get good grades/try to obtain awards and whatnot, and basically do anything you can do to improve your application
