UMICH Stamps 2018

Hey guys, I applied to Stamps and got deferred. Since their standards are a bit lower for grades/standardized testing I was wondering if I could get some opinions on my chances with that in mind…
SAT: 1320
GPA Unweighted: 3.7
3 teacher recommendations
Extensive portfolio and 4000 word essay explaining my work
Small essay with each piece
Many good extracurriculars (most art related)
Good college essay that ties into my portfolio
OOS and sent a LOCI

Good luck for everyone waiting for decisions!!

Hi there – my student is a Stamps semifinalist at a different university (currently waiting to learn about finalist status, after panel interview on campus last weekend). Numbers: 1470 SAT, 4.0 unweighted GPA. Don’t know the stats for the other semifinalists (all great youth). Hadn’t heard that the Stamps program had lower standards; I understand they do look for students who epitomize the five adjectives they seek (including service, innovation and perseverance, not just academics). Anyway, good luck to you!

I think ccthwn123 is referring to Stamps the Art College at Michigan, not Stamps the Scholarship. Coincidentilly named after Penny Stamps.

Good luck with your application. I don’t know about art majors, performance majors can’t be admitted EA, have to wait until after audition. We leave tomorrow for D18’s audition on Thursday. Keep us posted on whether you get accepted.

My daughter got admitted to STAMPS College for Art Early Action. We are waiting for scholarship info and financial aid since we are OOS. Your portfolio is 50% of your admission btw so it’s a little different than other colleges at UM- it’s not just grades. My daughter had a 33 ACT, 4.0 unweighted GPA/ 4.5 weighted with 3 CCP and 4 AP classes. Her focus is on Fine Arts and painting.
