WHAT ARE MY CHANCES? UMICH

I really really want to get into umich but I’m worried about my gpa/ scores, however, I am applying to the stamps program of art and design.

GPA: 3.22
SAT: 1200
I am in the process I creating a killer portfolio of drawings and artwork so hopefully they can consider that. I am taking the SAT again in hopes of increasing my chances. I have been putting countless hours into it. (target score is 1400). I also have 4+ leadership positions, it especially relates to my major in art. I also put in countless hours in volunteering at art museums.
Also, I have a learning disability so I am writing how it has affected my GPA, and I also attend a very challenging, college prepatory school.

Please Please give me feedback

While it’s true that you can get into STAMPS with lower scores…those are really low scores for a UMich applicant.
Even for an arts program. Particularly your GPA.

I just don’t know.

From the admissions page for STAMPS:

What kind of grades do I need to have to get into Stamps?

Students admitted to Stamps have an average GPA of 3.7, an average ACT of 29 and an average SAT of 1300 (verbal and math). Don’t forget, these are averages, not minimums - and academics are only part of our admissions evaluation. Your portfolio is going to count for about 50% of our admissions decision.

Not saying it’s not possible…but your portfolio had better knock it out of the ballpark, and you should be doing everything in your power to up your gpa.

Good luck, and let us know what happens.

A truly outstanding portfolio might mitigate the low GPA and SAT. Only about 1.2% of admitted students are in your GPA band, so I would not expect good news.
