UMICH supplement #2. can someone please just explain this ?

The question is

Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests? (500 words maximum)

when they say curriculum, do they mean their curriculum (their required courses, ect) or the unique qualities that I mentioned before.

Thanks! :)

If you don’t understand this question, UMich is probably not a school you should consider. The coursework maybe too difficult for you.

@adam

That was not needed. There’s no need to to be snobby here. It’s a valid question which I also need clarification on as a further explanation will help ensure that I am 1) answering the question correctly and 2) to most effectively gain a better outlook on writing it.

“Unique qualities” and “curriculum” refer to the same thing. They’re asking you to explain which aspects of the school to which you are applying–which could be concentration programs or courses or academic support or anything along those lines–attract you to that school. In other words, what about that school makes you want to be a student there?

I’m pretty sure “unique qualities” doesn’t refer to your unique qualities, although certain characteristics or talents you possess would come into play here. But really, this is basically the “why do you want to come here?”/“why is Michigan the right school for you?” question.

Simply said, this is a question asking why you’re choosing Michigan and your field of interest.

i called up the office of undergraduate admission and they specifically said classes = curriculum. i asked if research was included in curriculum and they said no.
of course you can add research to the “unique qualities that attract you to” your school but as for the word curriculum, its asking for classes. hope that answered your question.
