UMich vs UIUC

I recently got into both UIUC and UMich, and I plan to major in Biochemistry and do Pre-Med. I am from Illinois so I know more about UIUC, but I was wondering which of these would be better considering my major. I don't know as much about UMich because I wasn't considering it very seriously until now (I got waitlisted at my 4 top schools) but the more I research it I love it!

I'm leaning UMich but because it's more expensive (OOS) I want a comparison with UIUC in the Biochemistry/Pre-Med field between these two schools. Thanks!

Go where the money is. I was in your exact same situation and I chose UMich because they gave so many scholarships that is was actually cheaper for me to go out of state than pay in state tuition at UIUC. UIUC has nearly the highest in-state tuition costs in the country because the state is so strapped for cash.

I also got a scholarship to UMich which makes it almost as much as UIUC for me. It’s a tad more but my parents are okay with that. Does that make UMich the clear winner?

If Michigan is less than $5,000 more expensive than UIUC, I would recommend you go for it. Michigan is a slightly better university and both the campus and the college town are more appealing the UIUC.

However, if the difference is $10k or more, stick to UIUC.

but alex, what if its $7500? now that would be a real dilemma.

That would indeed be a dilemna. It would depend on the financial situation of the family.

Don’t make us guess chichoo1993. What are the difference in costs? :-)
