<p>As noted, the metric is that Ann Arbor is about 5 degrees down from Boston. The subjective reality: felt colder than when I lived in CT; felt about the same as when I lived in Boston. If you are dressed for winter in CT (or MA) you are also dressed for winter in Ann Arbor.</p>

<p>The real difference is not so much how cool it as as the fact that the left and right tail are a bit fat (more day counts): winter ends a bit later and starts a bit earlier than in Boston, but the outright temperature difference, no matter what the gauge is reading, is subjectively equivalent.</p>
