UMichigan Ann Arbor EA Class of 2021 Applicants

When you click on application status you should see another screen that has three links in the middle and one of those links should say “view decision” that’s where you’ll see the decision. If it’s not there yet then they haven’t reviewed your application yet to give you a decision. Good Luck! B-)

@rusty8642 I did not apply for financial aid. RIP

Is Michigan known for giving any scholarship money? What stats would someone need to receive a scholarship?

its hard to get good merit scholarships from michigan u would have to be like an urm, poor, or like harvard/mit genius. @llw333 i know for in state 25% of in state ppl accepted receive at least the $1500 regeants merit scholarship

Has anyone heard about Stamps or Shipman this year? We have to start cutting schools off the list this week, and the aid we have from Michigan is not close to enough. (Complicated family background) I might call the school tomorrow, but I would prefer if I could find out here that the invites are done. Thanks

For those who have gotten in earlier, how long does it take to get packet in mail after you receive acceptance on portal? For those who get scholarships, is that where you find out?

@Alba52 I got the packet in the mail about a week after for LSA and for Ross, about 1.5 weeks after.

Does anyone know if Ross is sending out another round of decisions today. I was admitted in December to LSA, but haven’t heard from Ross yet. (GPA: 3.95 (Unweighted), ACT: 32)

In the same boat with you. In state 32 ACT 3.97 GPA. Got into LSA and waiting on Ross. Very frustrating. I thought this would all be over in December and now it may spill over into March. What is someone to do who wants to study Business only? Already had to spend dollars on several application fees and dollars for test scores and transcripts to back-up colleges like NYU, William & Mary, etc. Had to do it in case the admittance doesn’t come through for Ross. Ross is basically saying if you are not accepted as a pre-admit, don’t bother transferring once you study at Michigan. Spending lots of cycles making back-up plans that are either necessary or a complete waste of time. Why even bother to have Early Action if they won’t tell you your Ross status until March? Good luck to you and overall, disappointed U of M puts prospective Ross admits in this kind of limbo.

@GoBlue26 I posted some info about it on the EA thread

So how does financial aid work at Michigan? I got into LSA and all I got was a loan. If I get into Ross will there be more possible grants/scholarships or are the loans it? OOS 34 ACT, 3.93 uw

If your family makes over 90k u will not get financial aid from umich. Also ross takes a while since they grt so many applicants be patient ppl always had to wait until March

No decisions today?

You’ll still get some aid if your family makes more than 90k, I did. @Eeeee127

Oh well on the umich website for oos financial aid they said up to 90k

Don’t count on financial aid if you are OOS and have high family income. If your FAFSA says your family can pay 60K, you will not get aid. D didn’t get any aid, except a 5500 Stafford loan possibility-- same from UVA.

Both world class schools, Michigan is just a little better

The trade off of going to a top tier school is that there is very little Merit money available (only financial aid). It’s actually more of an issue if your family has money. Most OOS kids that get into Michigan have great options at a better price. Good schools that are less selective than UM will give significant money to strong applicants. My D, like many people on this thread, could have saved $80K+ if she chose another school. The family circumstances, kid and desired careeer path makes the decision unique for each family. For some careers (i.e. Wall Street), going to a school like UM will definitely give you an advantage. For other careers paths, it may not be worth the extra $80k. If you do well at Michigan, it will open doors. My D is a second semester sophomore and she was just given an amazing highly compensated internship opportunity at a Forture 500 company (voted in the top 100 admired companies in the US). I don’t know that she could have landed something like this from just any school. Good luck to everyone on your personal decisions on what makes sence for you.

Oh, I am in state

@Eeeee127 there is aid for ooo students above $90k, they just will not meet demonstrated need above that, but aid is given. My D has gotten a grant and general university scholarship as an ooo with income above $90k.

http://finaid.umich.edu/new-undergraduates/non-resident-students-and-financial-aid/

“While we do not have sufficient funds to meet the full demonstrated financial need of all nonresident students, need is covered for students with families that have incomes of up to about $90,000 per year. Scholarships from U-M schools and colleges or private sources may be able to cover costs for others through these combined resources.”
