UMichigan Ann Arbor EA Class of 2021 Applicants

Everyone is nervous…so if you need to know how to access Wolverine Access better to practice now.
Last year the system shut down several times so it could be as early as Monday or as late at December 24 but no later than December 24. Anyone who says different doesn’t really know because right on the Michigan Admission website it says next week and that’s it. No date, no time, no order…nada

This is how they will notify you. If you read last posts lots of kids found out via WA and others couldn’t get in and the email came sooner. So all I can tell you for sure is I don’t know anything for sure!
Good Luck everyone…go Blue!

How will I be notified of my admission decision?

Early Action decisions will be released no later than December 24th; Regular review decisions are released in April.

We appreciate your patience as we prepare to release admissions decisions. Please know that we are unable to give decisions over the phone; therefore, it will be your responsibility to monitor your email account for your decision.

ALL admissions decisions will be sent via email from Michigan.Admissions@umich.edu or UA-Admissions@umich.edu with the subject line “Your University of Michigan Admissions Decision.” Please add these email addresses to your safe list so that your decision does not go to your junk or spam folder. Decisions will be released to the email address you provided on your application. If you need to update your contact information, you may do so yourself through the New & Prospective Student link in Wolverine Access.

Applicants who have been admitted will also receive paper correspondence. We will send your admissions decision to the address you provided in your application; if you have provided a current address, we will send the decision there. If you have only included a permanent address, that is where your decision will be sent.

There are three possible decisions an applicant may receive: admit, defer, or deny. All decisions will be viewable on a link labeled “View Decision” on the application status link of your New & Prospective Student Portal. Defer means your application requires additional consideration. #:-S :-SS

So will you get an email if you are deferred or rejected - YES
Will you get an email if you are accepted - YES
Will your portal have the decision - YES
Do we know the order they will go in…not really cause what if you can’t access it and it’s there and then you get the email. So don’t stress.

We are all in this together…did I mention…go BLUE?

I would be absolutely shocked if decisions come out before Friday Dec 23rd. The last day of finals is Thursday Dec 22nd then school will be officially closed until January 4th. Its most likely that decisions will start being released that Friday morning after the Admissions Office has closed up shop. No school let alone one as large as Michigan wants to have students, parents, etc calling to ask for an explanation of any decision they’re not happy with. For all those expecting to hear on Tuesday, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Sorry, it was on the admission’s page. It was a comment that they replied to on the post updating people on when admission decisions would come out.

@10isMOM but it took umich last year a week to get all the decisions out (dec 18-25). if they released decisions on the 23rd that would only give them 2 days to get all the decisions out. the system would crash if they sent out 33,000 decisions in 2 days instead of spread out over 7 days like last year. this years winter break is very late for michigan so they might not be able to follow the same trend of releasing them on the first day of winter break. also they wouldn’t want to release decisions that late and close to christmas anyway. someone’s school counselor received an email from admissions that decisions will start coming out on tuesday.

I hope can get in . fingers crossed

What are you guys’ back up schools?

@ataylor963 All they meant when they included the 18th as a part of that range was this was the week they would come out. Since calendar weeks start on a Sunday and this week’s Sunday is the 18th, they included that day when they said 18-24th. This was because the person that commented asked for clarification on what they meant by “next week.” So to answer your question, we shouldn’t expect any decisions tonight based on just that comment.

oh my hopes are way up! are you kidding me? this is almost better than the Superbowl commercials! jt1216 and I are on the same page! probably not tonight but who’s to say they won’t come tomorrow. We can all hope, tis the season right! Let’s all keep the rumors going…cause one of us is bound to be right! Wahoo…way too much soda today!

The longer they take, the more stressed I get. I just wish they’d just tell us asap if they had already made their decisions. But whatever it is what it is.

Y’all are the weirdest group of kids.

I guess I’ll have to do econ at Michigan then. I’m fine with that just upset that transferring into Ross won’t be the ideal plan

Okay, thank you.

Looking at a lot of the other threads, a deferral doesn’t seem like an delayed rejection (like it is for many schools). Do a lot of rejections come out during the EA round as well? Or mostly deferrals?

@BreadedPrincess that question has been answered multiple times already

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not gonna be able to sleep until these decisions come out :-SS :-SS

@as1799 Sorry my bad this forum is a bit disorganized

There are some rejections in EA but they are semi-rare. Deferrals are more common and the nice thing about UMich deferrals is that you can demonstrate interest (saying UMich is top choice, the perfect place, would go if accepted, etc…) to the local rep from UMich. That demonstrated interest can supposedly go a long way.

@UofMichigan1999 Thankyou so much! UMich is my backup school after UT, since the OOS tuition there is so expensive. But I applied for scholarships, and in-state tuition would definitely bump it to my number 1 since the north is my home and Ann Arbor is the coolest place

@BreadedPrincess umich is not a backup school anymore not even for in state students. my backup schools are msu and pitt
