UMichigan Ann Arbor EA Class of 2021 Applicants

Last year the last day of finals was on the 17th and decisions started coming out Friday the 18th

The last day of finals is on the 22nd this year which is very late and admissions will prob not wait until the friday after finals to release like they have in the past

@Eeeee127 False, last day of exams was the 23rd: http://ro.umich.edu/calendar/fa15.php

@jt1216 if it makes you feel better that it might come out the 23rd, you can believe what you want. No one knows. So there is no point in arguing about when they will come out… at all. Doesn’t matter if it’s today, tomorrow, or even the 23rd. Who knows how they’re doing it, everyone can believe what they want

My brother comes home from UM tomorrow and his last final is today. He helps out in admissions at UM and honestly all he told me is that Tuesday is the most likely date, but that even they haven’t decided on a set day yet. They have been behind due to so many applicants so they’re focusing more on reviewing every app and making the decision than they are on spacing them out. Point is, everyone will know by saturday and the first decisions will start rolling out tomorrow

It’s not about me convincing people they should believe what I do, I was just not understanding why there was such a strong consensus even though the only “proof” is what 2-3 people claimed their counselors were told by the admissions staff, despite everyone knowing how secretive the admissions staff is. @amarz12

@forkthis Okay thank you. Did your brother say if they still plan on releasing them at 3 or 4 pm Eastern time tmrw like they usually do with decisions?

It sounds like umich received more applications than they expected this year? That means higher competition and waiting and not a good year for applicants

Well while we wait can someone answer a question? Is a 30 oos act score way too low for an acceptance?

@jt1216 Last year the time varied. My friend got his decision at 4pm EST while I got mine around 7pm EST. Wolverineaccess was also very slow and kept crashing for me around 4pm EST.

@mimimo7890 I guess it depends on your chosen major

@lolonimous I did lsa undeclared

I think that should be fine if the rest of your application stands out and shows a deep interest in the University of Michigan @mimimo7890

@lolonimous Yea I was referring to what time the decisions START coming out. I did not specify that, my bad. I was wondering because it will tell me if I should start refreshing Wolverine Access and my email every 4 minutes starting at 8am or starting at 3pm lol

I think checking at 3pm EST is a safe bet. After that perhaps we can keep checking hourly. @jt1216

yea the exact timing is almost completely random, but usually they START coming out around 3.

This is one of the things I actively dislike about UMich. Most schools manage to announce a release date ahead of time ( not a " by Christmas Eve " which everyone knows will never be the date). It’s annoying and vaguely sadistic. U Mich admissions seems to take a weird pleasure in people having this uncertainty. I wish they would cut it out. I say this as a parent of a student who helps out in admissions and who otherwise loves most things about U Mich.

I think admissions at one of these schools that get upwards of 50k apps must be something along the lines of barely controlled chaos.

A deadline is a deadline. If they make it before, good for them. If they don’t, they will make the deadline. Be glad it’s not UNC or UVA who wait much longer!

50k apps?? Damn!! Last year it was 30k!!!

I’m guessing…no clue.
