http://prntscr.com/hsa1lx I got this letter, should I send a LOCI and if so, when? Also, my overall UW GPA was around a 3.5 but my first semester, I got 5 A’s (with 4 AP classes). How much should this help my chances?
That’s the same letter I received, I sent my LOCI the day after receiving the updated admissions status. I never got an answer back (though the admissions office is currently off for break). If I do receive an answer I’ll make sure to post it.
There’s a second deferral letter that was sent out that underscores the importance of receiving good grades. It seems that those with higher test scores received the originally-mentioned letter, and according to that letter, some students were not admitted due to high influx of applications received. I believe UMich simply couldn’t fully review every application they got and pushed many (as high as 85%) of the EA applicants to RD. People who received either letter have been admitted in the past. I wouldn’t worry, it seems as though you are on the higher side of things.
@trapnumen alright thanks! And yeah, what you said seems to make sense as I scored a 33 on the ACT. Along with that, I had 3 A’s and 1 B (with 3 AP’s and 1 honors) my 2nd sem of jr year and a straight A senior fall semester (AP Gov/Econ, AP Calc AB, AP Psych, APES, and Eng 4 Regular). I was just a bit worried and I am not sure if I should send a LOCI since they only wanted what they asked for (the grades).
