what's desi? any chinese americans applying?

Desi - South-Asian descent

I guess what was hard for me was adjusting during the first month to college (but that's different--people do that differently).
i hope you all have good study habits--if not get prepared to make some study habits, cause you'll need them. I really am enjoying the program. docent is awesome. every tuesday we see patients at a mental hospital and--we don't see them, we watch them being interviewed, but it's almost the same thing because we ask the patients questions. It's definitely a different experience--actually, some docent groups are interviewing the patients individually. thursday, or your regular 2-hr docent, is much more dependent on your docent doctor, I know some kids who have drawn blood from fellow classmates, but a lot of it is introductory to practicing medicine. It's great and it definitely is an awesome highlight of my week. i'd say that it's what really sets UMKC apart. I was in the hospital the second week of school. Oh, what else. the food really isn't that great. Just to be honest. We got a starbucks and einstein's recently in addition to the one cafeteria. Looking back, this semester seems like it flew by but I worked hard when I was working, but it now seems easy, but when I was going through it it didn't seem as easy. But anyway, good luck to you all.

Thanks for your input mst...it helps us out

how is life socially, fun things to do around campus? Clearly, we'll have to study a lot, but I'm just curious.

Thanks mst!!
sry I'm so curious about the academics~ how many hours a day does the average student spend on hw/studying etc...? or in another way, how many hours per night in order to get decent-good grades? I think studying "a lot" is sometimes relative so I just wanted to get an idea...
thanks again!!!!
oh, also, when do we hear about interviews... my friend said 2 weeks from now (?) I thought it was dependent on how early your turned your application in. I turned mine in pretty late (close to the last day) so would I be notified about my interview only in Jan or later?? thnx so much!

i second the request.

also, is it possible to do residency at ucla or ucsd after going to the program?

i sent my application...i hope i get in...did anyone get any reply from them

is this only a once a year application. since you can apply to the school at 3 different times per year.

im going to have to call them tom and hope they understand my problem or else i seriously am in a big quagmire :( did anyone here send in an application late? 2nd part of the question: with an okay from them?

wow you are really late. this app was due on nov 15

I just got the new nov sat scores
CR:740
Math: 800
WR: 760

Total: 2300

hope it boosts my chances for umkc

congrats mme bovary!

wow madame, good job!!!!! it looks like you're a lot better at the SAT than the ACT, like me... except for my SAT score doesn't even compare to yours... o well, hopefully being in state will help me

im not good at those act science stuff. they are so hard.

i agree, i don't think it really even measures your knowledge of the sciences- it's all about how fast you know how to interpret data which doesn't tell colleges anything about what you know in the science field

did you guys have all the classes needed? I didnt have computer science because as far as i know its not offered at my school.

i don't think you need computer science...it never mentioned it on the app...or did it?

they didnt understand my art credit all the way

yeah, i don't have computer science either because my school doesn't offer it. they said that it's not required and that if your school doesn't offer it, it doesn't matter that you didn't take it~ they just recommend it if your school does offer it, but either way it's not required.

yea, i was kind of worried because i had everything else besides it. do u guys have any college or a.p. credits?

no, i don't have any college/AP credits yet... i never took any AP classes my junior year (the only one my school offered was AP US History, which I'm not interested in since i hate history) but i'm taking 2 APs this year, so I should atleast have 2 classes taken care of before college, which isn't that much compared to a lot of other seniors who graduate with 4+ APs on their transcript..
