hmm so I was talking to a student who was familar with this six-year med program, and he said that residency became a problem for the people who did the program. He said that the quality of the "board exams?" and the professors are not that good. Did anyone else hear anything about this?

Aren't the boards pretty much standard? I mean it must be sthe profs and not enough academic prep...

what did he mean by the "residency becoming a problem"? does he mean that they don't get into good residency programs because they don't do well on the boards?

Yes, I think so. He said they get into the residency programs, but the quality of their work isn't as good as someone who came from oh idk, Michigan (who went through a 7-8 year program). But I don't know whether to rely on this information. I know of a few people who have been successful from this program. I also however, know of some that weren't.

that may be a bad thing, because the residency is very important for a doctor.

:( I know... (10 char)

Did y'all get any sort of confirmation of receipt after you guys sent in your application to UMKC?

Nope, I didn't get anything.

I'm curious to hear more about those problems with residencies. Unfortunately, I don't know anybody from this program so I really am clueless about its reputation.

. same here

No, I didn't, and I'm sort of worried lol

I don't think we should be worrying ourselves about residencies. That was one opinion. Like I said, I know quite a few people who were successful in this program, and it has a decent reputation. Besides, if it didn't, then they would probably shut it down like they have with other accelerated programs.

is there anything else that people you guys know who've gone through the program have said about it/ suggested for it??

its weird because i know a person from the program and one who is in the program and they say it is a great program to get into and that UMKC is very reputible.

sry, "it" refers to the program in general, not the residencies...

i wonder how many people in the program are desi... would you say about 25% or higher?

haha I think most of us CCers here are desi (and hopefully we all get in!!)

hmm... that's weird, I expected there to be more chinese than desi...

i know! oh well desi pride

im desi

im gonna apply there next year
