im from oos and i have yet to receive an interview.

okay, thanks oshkosh!

im in state and i still haven't heard anything. when i called they said that my application hasn't been reviewed yet and that they are really backed up so im betting it will be awhile before we hear anything.

hmmm... i wonder if they review by the order they receive the apps... did you turn in your app reeally late tiedye? ...cuz i turned mine in only a few days before the deadline
either way you shouldn't worry because they keep calling for interviews for several more months from now (last year I heard the called people just 2 weeks before decisions went out!)

hey guys,.
i am interested in the 6-yr program but i don't know if my stats r good enough
ACT: 29
SAT: 1820
GPA: 4.0

i am taking a lot of AP classes and i am in a lot of clubs but i don't have enough EC

i am still a junior so i can improve. please give me some tips.
what r the requirements for the program anyway?
monica121 is online now

improve either your SAT or ACT. i'd suggest the SAT, but if you feel you're ACT can be brought higher (to over a 31-32ish) then you should be set.

i would also try to get some medical ECs (hospital volunteering, research, med summer camps) in order to improve those.

i'm not sure of the requirements for the program, i'm sure someone will give you answers to those.

thanx a lot!

monica- requirements depend on if you're instate or oos. for instate you need a minimum act of 26 with top 20% of your class and oos you need minimum act of 28 with top 10% of class. so either way you'll be fine. you'll make it if you really show interest in the program, so it'd be good if you raise your scores a little to really be competetive, but if you can't don't worry about it because you still have a good shot. good luck!

I got an interview letter by email. I'm in state and have a 26 on my ACT. I know it's not high but it was the best I could do under the time constraint. My brother is in the program (3rd year) and was accepted with a 30 ACT score out of state. If anyone has any advice on how to prepare for the interview, it would be appreciated. Thanks, and good luck to all!

for preparing for the interview, i like the book, "Get in to medical school: a guide for the perplexed" by Kenneth V. Iserson. here are some questions i was asked:

-what is your favorite book? tv show? why?
-what would you is your greatest strength? weakness?
-you witness a classmate cheating. what do you do?
-tell me about your clinical experiences.
-what will you do if you don't get into this program?

i suggest practice answering interview questions out loud, and make sure you are comfortable talking about yourself. i had 2 separate interviewers (one MD, one PhD); one acted very interested and was very responsive, while the other hardly reacted to any of my answers. i do not know if this was done on purpose, but be sure to be aware that this could occur.

has anyone else gotten an interview yet? I'm not too worried, it's still really early. we all still have a lot of time to hear something.

yah, they've only interviewed about 30 people so far so u guys shouldn't worry bout it at all...

any oos interviews yet?

i dont even know if i got in the regular undergrad yet. they are so slow with oos.

I'm from oos and I've gotten into umkc undergrad, but I still haven't gotten the email about the interview...(nervous).

umkc soooo prefer instate to outstate. ratio of instate to outstate students in program is like 8 :1

there are about 100 students per class, and about 25 are out of state. for my year, we were 101 total, and 17 were out of state. but i know a previous year had 30 out of state. i think umkc sort of has a quota to fill for out of state spots; but a majority of the students are in state because, after all, its a public school.

i agree that it is easier for in state people to get in, but don't get discouraged if you are out of state.

i got an interview. im pretty nervous. i never got a formal letter saying i got into the undergrad but i called and she said that i had so i would just call if u haven't gotten a formal letter. oshkosh- do u have any tips for the interview??

tiedye, are u in state? congrats!! when is ur interview date? the interview reeally isnt bad at all... u just have to be yourself and think about who you are and what you've been involved in... its really actually that simple- i never completely believed people when they told me that before i had my interview, but it's true- they just want to get to know you as a person. again, congratulations and good luck!!

mazurskie; instate. Called Ms. Morgenegg, got an interview! 26 Jan. Excited!
