UMKC 6-year BS/MD Program

When will the interview results come this year any one…???

@Whitecane around March 18th…

@sajju786 How do you know? Did they say that during the interviews?

UMKC ball dropped overnight…

@PPofEngrDr, just to be clear that professor was at the UMKC School of Pharmacy, not the UMKC School of Medicine. He’s no longer there and has resigned his position.

@Roentgen thanks for clarification, however every year something is keep dropping for overall UMKC umbrella and that is now how healthcare education should be, just my $0.02.

@PPofEngrDr, no it’s no problem at all. I just wanted to clarify because the @CNN article itself doesn’t say it although more local outlets like the KC Star do. There are very separate & discrete schools in a broad overarching university like UMKC – Law, Business, Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, etc. and part of deciding on medical school admissions/acceptances is putting together pieces and the importance of those pieces will vary from individual to individual as to whether it’s isolated in terms of specific people or an institutional problem.

Another story that’s been discussed was a UMKC medical student case and has been brought up and discussed previously in this forum as well.

I don’t have an account, but that case is working its way through the courts: https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/24689298/Carter_v_Curators_of_the_University_of_Missouri

UMKC is suing the ex-professor from School of Pharmacy (nothing to do with UMKC’s BA/MD - SOM as @Roentgen pointed out). Also not UMKC being sued!

I don’t understand @PPofEngrDr comments “UMKC ball dropped overnight…” as well as follow-up comment “every year something is keep dropping for overall UMKC umbrella …”

@Roentgen @WGSK88 I didn’t stat that it is SOM, however it seems implied and when it was pointed out, I accepted the clarification too. UMKC umbrella means umbrella that covers all colleges not just one SOM.

@PPofEngrDr, that’s no problem. My post wasn’t a dig at you. It was a clarification as the CNN story wasn’t clear. The KC Star has been more detailed w/regards to the story which people can Google.

@WGSK88, the @CNN story dropped March 1st. Hence probably the mention of it being dropped overnight. Is the story relevant with respect to the university? Of course it is. The person is a faculty member at the UMKC School of Pharmacy and a long time faculty member at that. Whether that contributes to an individual accepting or rejecting a BA/MD offer at the School of Medicine is an individual decision.

This thread (and this forum really) isn’t to cheerlead for UMKC (or for any other Bachelor/MD program) by any means, it’s so that applicants, students, alumni can discuss the program in a candid and forthright way and that includes getting context before making matriculation decisions. I think being informed, regardless of whether it affects an enrollment decision in the end or not, is good & students are better off being aware. I appreciate @PPofEngrDr for doing so.

@Roentgen I am trying to pay the confirmation fee, but my status page still hasn’t been updated. Should I call UMKC or is that too aggressive? I guess I should probably just wait lol

Does anyone else have the same problem?
