Hey, I'm applying to the med program at UMKC. But I got an ACT score of 28 which is the minimum you need to get into the program. I've got good grades and a weighted gpa of 5.35 on a 6.0 scale. Are there anyone who've applied to UMKC? If so, will my ACT score be good enough to get in?

bs/md is very competitive, the published minimum does not mean any thing. Your chances are very very low, you can try but do not expect it. Apply broadly to all regular programs.

Are you in-state or out-of-state? Missouri in-staters tend to have lower ACT scores vs. out-of-staters (who usually take the SAT anyways). That being said, there is nothing you can do about it now and if you get an interview, it’s not as important since UMKC is not an extremely competitive BA/MD program or med school and more relies on your extracurriculars and your reason for doing medicine.

@Roentgen I’m out-state. UMKC is not my #1 school. I just applied there because it was the only one with a program within reach of my ACT score. I’m applying to a lot of schools that just have the side pre-med program that advises the classes you take.

@rgeorg, I would say your chances then are low, since you’re in the out-of-state pool (might be different with regional), but I think it depends how you do if u get an interview. It kind of starts over at the interview stage.
