UMN CSE In-State Transfer Student (with ADHD) Admission Probability. (Fall 2015; GPA >= 3.7.)

Hello everyone. I am a community college (CC) student who lives in Minnesota and is hoping to transfer to the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) in fall of 2015. At CC, I am a Mathematics major, and by the time I finish, I will have taken Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. I would also like to note, when finished (granted I continue to get all A’s), I will have a 3.86 cumulative GPA and my AS in Mathematics. This fall I am going to apply to UMN-CSE with a 3.79 cumulative GPA and 4.0 technical GPA, do I have a chance at admission? Moreover, is majoring in Mathematics (with a concentration on actuarial science) helpful if you want to get into the Financial Mathematics graduate program later on as well, too? (I will appreciate any help given.)

I should probably mention, I have ADHD. Would this improve my chances of acceptance? In other words, because I have done well in college, despite having a disability, would this improve my chances of admission?

Thank you.

In addition, I am a Mathematics Tutor (at my college), and I provide recitation for my professor’s (whom is teaching me Multivariable Calculus) lower-division math courses: that is, math classes most of us have taken in high school.

Looks to me like you have the academic credentials to be accepted as a transfer student. Mentioning how you overcame the challenges of ADHD to attain high grades at CC might help, and probably won’t hurt your chances.

The criteria for admission decisions for transfer students can be found at: http://admissions.tc.umn.edu/admissioninfo/trans_requirements.html

I looked at the web-link you suggested, however, I still have a few questions for you: a) are transfer students required to include their high school transcript? b) what are the requirements for the personal essay? (I have not found anything on the latter.) Before fall semester of 2015 (which is when I will transfer), I will have my A.S. degree in Mathematics, so, I do not see the need to send in my high school transcript. (Mind you, I am a non-traditional student.)
