I have been accepted to both colleges and I have narrowed it down to these two and I now cannot choose between these 2 college. May you guys help me with that? Which college has a stronger undergraduate program for engineering? Cost is not a factor of consideration for me as both colleges cost almost the same.
Where do you plan to work after graduation? Both have excellent engineering schools with strengths varying by discipline. At UMN-TC you are admitted to the college and still need to qualify for your specific program after taking some required coursework and maintaining a 3.2 gpa. While Minneapolis is a great city you really can’t beat Vancouver (other than it is much more expensive) even in a worldwide sense. Do you have direct admit at UBC for the engineering discipline of your choice or do you know yet what you want to study? My S is at UMN-TC (studying CS and economics) but I honestly have to give a lean to UBC.
UBC and MN are very closely ranked Engineering universities in both both THE and QS world rankings. Review and compare the disilpines you are interested in.
As has been asked, where do you want to live after? What are the cost differences?
As has also been mentioned, Vancouver is much more expensive to live than Minneapolis. I think this comes down to your particular disilpines interests, costs and where you want to live.
I’m partial to UM and would highly recommend it to any Engineering student
UBC - perhaps less 'good’of a college experience, but being international you’ll get worldwide recognition and, most importantly, Canada’s immigration policy is very easy on degree holders.
