UMN vs Mizzou vs Iowa State

Hi guys, I am an international transfer student planning to major in PR/strategic communication. I got accepted into Mizzou and Iowa state and am waiting for a decision from UMN. If I do get accepted into UMN, I am leaning towards going there since I’m from a large city and would prefer a similar environment but I’m still confused on which to choose for my major. As an OOS student, the costs are around the same so that is not a major issue.

Based on the curriculum offered for my major, all three seem pretty much on par (if my judgement is correct). I know Mizzou has the best J-school but PR is not exactly journalism so I’m not sure if it is definitely better than the other two schools? I also plan to have a second major or minor in marketing or sociology.

Does anyone have some advice on which school I should pick? Perhaps with some insight on campus life, the surrounding area etc? Also I know that Missouri’s alumni support is strong but what about UMN and Iowa State?

To be honest, Missouri would probably be the the best school for strategic communication itself. Because the journalism program is so strong, I would wager that the other communication areas would be strong as well. And as for Iowa, I can’t really speak to their strategic communications department, but I that overall it is lower ranked than both UMN and Mizzou. It is located in a quite rural area as well. Although MN doesn’t have a spectacular communication department, they do have an excellent Marketing program. The business school in general is very well respected (but also quite hard to get into). I feel as if UMN’s atmosphere would definitely please your craving for an urban area as well. So, if you’re willing to take on a double major in marketing, I would go UMN. If you’re not, Mizzou is probably your best option.

Thanks for your input changes12
