unable to retrieve

I might be impatient (most likely), but the IRS retrieval tool isn't giving me anything.

We filed on 1/28, had some errors and refiled on 1/29. I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to check with IRS to see if our taxes have been processed.

When entering your first name to verify who you are do you include your middle initial, if it was used on the IRS form? For example.... is it Mary J. (for first name) or is it just Mary?

I have used 3 different first names and never get an error, I just get that IRS is unable to retrieve our information generally indicating that there just hasn't been enough time, but based on others here, it seems that the turn around is actually under 2 weeks.

I'm getting nervous as we've already passed one deadline (2/2) and have another one coming up (2/15).

Thanks.

we filed our taxes thru H&R block and checked online to see if it showed “processed”. Then we went into the fafsa site and the link was very clear. It appeared on the parents income/assets section.

I had no difficulty finding the link for the IRS retrieval tool. I’m just not getting any information when I use it on the IRS site.

We filed directly through IRS, however business taxes had to be snail mailed, but the information was recorded when we filed our personal taxes.

crazymomster, I am having the same issue with the retrieval tool and spoke to the IRS again today. I filed a 1040 on 1/15/12 and my return shows accepted but not processed. I’m not receiving a refund and it is a very simple return. The IRS agent I spoke to today looked at the return and cannot see any reason that it would not be accepted. He said they were surprised by the increase in early filings this year and the usual 2 week processing time is more like three weeks. Their system updates statuses every Monday so I will try again next week.

best of luck crazymom. I hope it gets settled soon. I think we all will be able to breath a bit easier and sleep better at night when this whole fin. aid stuff is DONE.
