UNC 'Camps' before Freshman move in

Hi, I know there is Orientation and Carolina Kickoff, what other opportunities are there for an incoming freshman to meet people in a smaller setting as they adapt to the change.

Really good question, does Chapel Hill offer anything?

Hi! I’m attending UNC Chapel Hill this fall as a freshman and there a couple of things that I know about that you can do over the summer as a freshman!
So the first thing is the WAFFYS program which stands for wilderness adventures for first year students. The program is through the school so I’m pretty sure you will only be with other people that are going to be freshman at UNC-CH. It’s a week long trip in which you go backpacking with 9 or so other students and there are guides.
The second thing is the APPLES service learning initiative. For this program you move into your dorm room 3 days or so early and then you do 3 different service projects in the surrounding area for a couple of days!
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions!

Carolina girl - those are I exactly what we’re looking for. Are they opened to all of the incoming freshman or just honors students?

@NCEdwards4 Yes! They are open to ALL incoming freshman! I’m pretty sure the service one is open to transfers too, but the WAFFYS program is just for first years!

Look into Carolina Kickoff as well. I didn’t do it but I have friends who did it and loved it.
