Thought I would start a wait list thread. Has anyone read any statistics as to how many UNC offered to be placed in the wait list and how many accepted? Any thoughts on % chance of getting an offer?

As the offer notices are received - please post the following:

1) Did you communicate interest to the school since your wait list letter
2) In-state or out of state
3) Do you expect to get financial aid
4) What school did you accept on May 1st
5) Do you now plan to attend Chapel Hill

No need to post grades or ECs as everyone on the wait list likely has very similar credentials.

I just called the admissions office after procrastinating for like a month after getting the wait list offer and they told me they don’t want any new materials, including letters reaffirming interest. Kind of a bummer as I was hoping to be able to explain a few things and say I would enroll if offered admission, but it is what it is. Might try to transfer from my state school

@holycow99 I looked on College Board and the percent admitted out of the wait list pool was roughly one in three, so the odds aren’t that bad! This is for out of state btw

Does anyone know when wait list decisions will be released?

Per the March 31st FAQ on the admissions website… “If we have additional space in the class, we’ll begin making offers to waitlisted students by the end of May. We may make several rounds of offers, but we promise to have a final decision to all students by the end of June.”

Just got a message that a friend’s twins got off the waitlist! Did anyone else receive good news?

How? Admissions rep told me yesterday just before the office closed that no decisions had been made or would be given out yet. I would hate to think they would tell me that and lie. They have been pretty upfront so far.

You guys should check out UNC’s admissions blog. Bad news for us.
