Unc chapel hill - transfer students

I am currently a freshman at Boston University but would love to transfer to UNC as a sophomore. Does anyone know anything about what UNC looks for in a transfer student/what the average credentials are for an out-of-stater? Thanks in advance!!

they waitlisted a TON of people last year, last year it was more competitive than ever, if you can shoot for a 3.8 that helps you that much more, but ive heard bu is a very difficult school grade-wise. :(
out of state is not nearly as much of a factor for transfers as it is for freshman.
theres only two fairly short essays, so really illustrate why you need to be there and why they need you

thank you so much for your reply! do you think they consider the fact that BU is also a prestigious school? i heard also that they consider high school a lot, is this true?

for sophomore transfers they are going to use your high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores as a fairly large part of their decision. I'm trying to get in too, so it looks like we are going through this together!

well good luck to you also! i realize my high school grades, while good, would never have gotten me into unc as a freshman, but i'm assuming they don't have the same standards for transfer?

we took a decent number of transfers this year. I know 2 OOS transfers myself so just keep working and it will be so!
