So i just finished touring santa clara and unc and now im in a tough situation deciding between the two. I know that they are basically completely opposite one being small, private, and west coast while the other is large, public, and east coast. I was accepted to the business school at SCU which has a great reputation and relationship with Silicon Valley companies, but im worried that If I end up not wanting to stay in California then kenan Flagler and unc would be better because its national reputation. Also, I’m very into the outdoors/sustainability and a laid back lifestyle which suits SCU more, but SCU is very small and I don’t think it has the “college” atmosphere. This is a big deal for me and I would most likely pick unc other than the fact that I have to pay OOS tuition while I received a full tuition scholarship to SCU. money wise I would be able to pay for unc but I obviously realize it would take some toll on my parents. I know I wrote a lot but if anyone has any thoughts or experiences they could share I would greatly appreciate it.
One more thing I forgot to add. I’m gay and although you wouldn’t know unless I told you I don’t plan on being completely in the closet during college and the gay life at each college matters to me. I know that chapel hill has a good reputation for the lgbt population, and when I went to SCU everyone was extremely nice and accepting but I don’t know anything about SCU pertaining to the lgbt population.
