I am an international student from China and I am admitted by both of UNC and UM. Now it seems quite difficult for me to choose where to go.

As for major concerns, I wanna learn Applied Mathematics and maybe pick a minor of Computer science as well. I guess I would like to be an actuary in the future if possible ...

I know UNC costs me fewer but fees are not a big deal for me.

Any advice?

Probably UNC-CH will give you a better lifestyle, but UM is better academically in those areas (especially mathematics).

I live in Michigan and am very familiar with the U of M atmosphere as a whole. Mathematics and computer science are amazing at U of M and the university is amazing. The only thing I would say negative about U of M is the college town of Ann Arbor is fairly small, but it’s a great college town. Besides, from what I heard Chapel Hill is a small town as well. It all comes down to where you’ll be most comfortable.

Great to know that. What about internship chance? Someone told me that UNC gets more interships for students. I don’t know, any opinion?

I personally have not heard good things about the math major here. However if you are interested in a business school, UNC has a very good undergrad business school.
