I am considering transferring to UNC, but is it possible to get in? What tends to be the average transfer GPA? Also, do they look at your SAT/ACT scores or high school transcript? I know Michigan makes you retake SATs. I would be transferring from a Tier 1 private university in Florida.

You'd probably need a 3.5 or so, but I hear kids transferring in from UNC system schools need like a 3.0 and they are fine. Also, transfers rarely look at the SAT/ACT scores, but if you are a freshman right now and want to transfer in, they'll look at your HS record. If you're going to transfer in for junior year, then it will be based on mostly your college record.

Damn. I have a 3.4 GPA right now @ UMiami. Hopefully I'll get it over a 3.5 this semester.

y r u transferring Bruins..jus wondering cause i attended um and fin aid for me sucked..and now im planning to transfer to unc also

A 3.4 at U of Miami might be alright. I'm really not sure how hard it is to transfer to UNC from a school outside of the UNC system.

UPDATE:

I received a 3.94 GPA (4 A's, 1 A-) for Fall 2008, bumping my UM GPA to a 3.84 and combined transfer GPA to a 3.56. How are my chances now?

I hold leadership positions in clubs/ student organizations and am very involved on campus.

UPDATE:

Accepted to University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, go TARHEELS!

Congrats Bruins :)

Thank you.

Still waiting on McIntire @ UVA for transfer, but I’m doubtful since they accept like 20 students and I highly doubt my stats will make me competitive compared to the others. Anyways, I’m pretty much decided on UNC-CH. I think it’s more of a college-life than UVA.

Dude just want to say congrats on the 3.94… that is a beautiful GPA and I am jealous.
