Ehh I’ve heard the scholarship day notifications come a few days after the acceptance…just from what I’ve seen in past years on CC though, nothing official

When do we think decisions are going to come out

Does anybody have access to their PID ( personal ID) through their portal? If you hit billing/manage finances and then go to " my profile" you will see it. Also does anybody have a small window/ window shade icon on the top right? If you hit it you will see " releasable ferpa directory information." I think in previous years everybody had access to a PID but I am not sure about the ferpa icon. It appears that this is information that can be put in the directory (?) I think decisions will come out on 1/30 but who knows.

@twogirls I have that as well, have the PID number and ferpa directory. Do you think that is a good sign?

Well I read that everybody gets a PID when they apply but the actual number comes with the acceptance letter. The Releasable Ferpa Directory Information appears to be related to what can be placed in the directory, so it can’t be a bad sign I guess- I am just not sure if everybody has it.

Does anyone know when decisions were released last year?

I consolidated this info from old threads here and found the last 4 years:

1-21-11 at 12:00pm
1-19-12 at 9:30am
1-25-13 at 11:30am
1-30-14 at 3:30pm

So, that’s 2 Thursdays, 2 Fridays.

I was reading the EA thread for last year’s class and the EA application deadline had been pushed back a week because of technical difficulties with the common app. This could have been the reason for decisions being released so close to the end of January.

Also people received an email of instructions on how to access your decision about 1-2 days before actual decisions were released. If you receive one of the emails please post it asap! I’m just so nervous and really want to know!!!

One last question: is information about scholarships and merit money also released with your decision?

Good luck everyone!

They also had to push back the deadline because they had a bunch of snow storms that wouldn’t allow the application readers to get to work. I think a reasonable date for decisions would be either the 22nd or 23rd of January. They like to release decisions at the end of the week.

@ineversleep UNC’s Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid page says you should hear by early January if you are being considered for a merit scholarship. You’ll be invited to a “Scholar Day” held in February, and then you’ll be notified within two weeks of a merit scholarship offer. On the other hand, you’ll be notified of your acceptance into programs offered through Excel@Carolina (like Chancellor’s Science Scholars, Research Scholars) depending on the program - but all students should hear back by April 15. I’m not sure of the dates for each program, but I know students invited to Honors Carolina usually receive an invitation within 2 weeks of their acceptance. Good luck!

@goldenberry
I’m not sure where you saw that EA applicants would be notified about merit scholarships in early January. I just looked at the page you speak of and it says this: “Scholarship candidates who are selected to move forward in the merit scholarship process will be notified shortly after they have been admitted to the University. The notification will inform candidates of Scholar Day and the selection process.” This explanation makes a little more sense to me, because it doesn’t seem like they’d send out scholarship notifications before applicants know whether they are accepted or not. So it might be late January/early February that we end up getting Scholar Day info.
@goldenberry
After looking through the site FAQ’s I did see where it said EA applicants would receive scholar day notifications in early January. I guess we will just have to see when they release them; I think it varies from year to year
@uncbound16 Agreed. The FAQ page I looked at said “If you apply by the “early action” deadline, you should hear by early January if you are being considered for a merit scholarship… If you did not apply by the “early action” deadline, but did apply by the final deadline, you will be notified by early March if you are being considered for a merit scholarship.” Probably just a minor discrepancy. Your explanation definitely seems more reasonable and likely!
Last year the Scholarship Day invitations came out the day after EA admission notifications. So, it will probably be late January this year.
^The year before that, the scholarship invites came out slightly before the EA notifications. Had a hard time convincing my daughter that the scholarship day invite meant she was accepted.
My daughter has the PID and FERPA drop down as well - for what it’s worth…
My son has that also. I am hoping that is a good sign
When we finally do receive our decisions, do we log into the ConnectCarolina website and look where it says status? Right now it say like “thank you for applying, your decision isn’t available yet.”
Yo guys, out of state UNC hopeful here.
Do you have to apply to merit scholarships or can you be considered regardless?
Also, what’s this PID/Ferpa stuff? Is it an email?
Best of luck to you all - I know my chances are hard out of state but I’m remaining hopeful
