UNC class of 2019 EA thread

@sam21avery It would, but an admissions officer already tweeted that the maintenance was unrelated.

@freetogive I feel the same way. I got deferred from Brown in December, and I haven’t heard back from anywhere else. I really just need to know that I can go SOMEWHERE.

@mdnate I saw that. But I’m saying that since the whole thing is going to be down, it would be in their best interest to do it at this time, as there is no traffic on the website. And I’m with you on being deferred, I was deferred by Tulane and that really killed my morale

@sam21avery Yeah, being deferred really sucks. I remember when I was younger I always thought I would know where I was going before Christmas and I wasn’t going to be one of those kids who didn’t know where they were going to college come springtime. I’m really hoping that UNC or UVA works out so that I don’t have this terrible uncertainty hanging over my head.

Seriously glad you guys can relate. I can’t even imagine what I’m going to do if I get a rejection (although that’s what I’m telling myself that’s what I’ll get so I don’t get my hopes smashed). I guess I’ll think seriously about some other options and have a great time at a different university! But I’m still hoping for UNC; they’re my number one.

Some guy on Twitter said he got a notice that he would know by Friday. It seems sincere.

Did he say what kind of notice? Snail mail, email, phone call?

@ineversleep‌ No. Search #UNC19. Look for post today from “Koopa Troopa”. Go to his page and scroll down a couple Tweets and you will see it.

@maroonsfan I’m not sure that guy is telling the truth. UNC has pretty standard practices for the days leading up to the decision, and tomorrow really isn’t looking likely. Unless he’s talking about next Friday, which is basically the last day they can notify us.

They have to notify us by next Friday. At least that’s something we can look forward to!

Ugh, I don’t think I can wait 8 more days. At least I may have UVA tomorrow to hold me over.

It will take plenty of distractions, praying, and sleep to get me through a whole 'nother eight days, but I can do it! God-willing

I’m just nervous because I’m out of state and although I know it’s not very likely I’ll be getting in, I’m still hoping. I really need these 8 days to fly by so I can just know…the suspense is too much for me :-S

@imstilllearning‌ I’m out of state too! UNC is amazing and NC itself is amazing and I would be so privileged to go there-- I already got an acceptance from Wake, so at least 1 NC school! Where are you from?

Now here’s one thing I don’t understand…why is UNC considerably later than other colleges with their EA programs?..it’s rare to find one in January, much less the very last day of that month. They might say, “well, we want to make sure that we take the time needed to review each candidate.” But do they review that much more carefully than Harvard (mid-December) or Yale or Dartmouth?..all in Dec. As well as UVA…

So my theory is that they’re understaffed compared to most colleges.

When I first applied back in October I was super confident I would get in because I always had top grades and what not. But now looking at the stats for OOS students, I’m almost positive I won’t get in anymore. It’s so heartbreaking waiting for this decision to come out =((

Did anyone else here apply to UVA too?? I hope they don’t release the same day… a double rejection would kill me

@blueeyes1997 my son applied to UVA as well. UNC is his 1st choice as we live in NC. I am hoping UVA comes out tomorrow.

@GreyGarvin‌ who can know if it’s true (and I can’t imagine how they would do it) but I have had two or three UNC admissions deans tell me every application is reviewed between 8-12 times. Maybe that explains the extra time. Regardless, it’s driving me nuts at this point. Our son is handling it better than me, I think.

@mrsjavamama I’m definitely not handling it well. I don’t know how on earth I’m going to wait until next Friday. But I’m glad UNC takes their time with us and puts their best effort into reading our applications.
