UNC class of 2019 EA thread

I looked at #UNC19 on twitter and still read the same “no date yet” message. Also, the admissions officer said to leave Connect Carolina be, so maybe all of us frantically looking on it is slowing things down…

From Twitter:
@UNCAdmissions: EA applicants, we know the waiting is hard! No decisions today, but we’re working as hard as we can to finish ASAP! http://t.co/vliT1CTLVw

Is it possible/allowed for decisions to be released on weekends? I know it’s a dumb question, but I just thought they were a weekday type thing!

@mademade They have always been released on weekdays, usually Thursday or Friday, for the past several years. I’m not saying it’s absolutely impossible, but it would be unprecedented.

@CSCS22‌ See, I’m happy that I’m in a college program, so all my classes are at a local university and I’m never at my home school. Therefore, I see nobody that is in my grade, ever, except for at Student Council meetings (once a month). I don’t even think any of the seniors in Student Council, besides myself, applied to Chapel Hill. If I don’t get in, the only people that are going to bombard me with questions would be my family and boyfriend haha

UNC is kind of being ridiculous, in my opinion. They aren’t sending out paper decisions, so what is the point in making us wait until the last minute? Especially if we had to apply by early October. 99% of schools do EA decisions in December. What’s the point in making us wait until the latest possible moment in January? If EA acceptance wasn’t higher than RD for UNC, I would’ve just applied RD. They find out way earlier compared to EA.

I couldn’t agree more. I think it’s crazy that they can’t give a hard deadline. But whenever I try and complain to my parents about it, they just talk about how they had to wait and wait for mail decisions >:P I’m so tired of waiting!

They do give a hard deadline. The end of the month. What else do you want.

@radar4077 I think it was meant like a hard deadline with a particular date like the 27th or something! :slight_smile:

Yes, that’s what I meant. Every other school I’ve applied to gave a specific release date… like NC State. Their early action decisions were posted on our accounts on December 12th- a date that was given to us when we started the application. They even told us what time they would be posted haha. I’m not trying to be picky or whiney… I’m just saying that as an anxious prospective student, it would be very reassuring to know when I would be getting my decision.

But they don’t know exactly when they will be done. They want to release the decisions as soon as possible, but they know that they don’t want to set a hard deadline months in advance that they may not be able to meet. That’s why they just make it end of the month and try their hardest to get it done before then.

So, why can other big, competitive schools give specific dates as deadlines? UNC needs to get it together.

There are a LOT of schools that don’t give absolute dates. This is true for many schools in both the EA and RD round. UNC has always said it will be by January 31. Everybody knew this going in, so I don’t think the school should be blamed. I understand that people are anxious, but the school is not doing anything wrong.

@suzy100 Agreed. UVA does the same thing. If you want a hard deadline, check at 6PM January 31. If they give the decisions to us any earlier, it’s a gift, not something we are entitled to.

@mdnate UVA is releasing tonight

@Benzy50 I know! I’m very nervous.

There’s lots to do at UNC! :slight_smile: http://www.buzzfeed.com/uncbucketlist/100-things-that-must-be-on-your-unc-bucket-list-19fck?s=mobile

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing well. These last few days have been extremely stressful, at least for me, and probably for many of you as well. Whether I get in or not, I’ve come to terms that God has a plan for me and will put me wherever he needs me to be, same with all of you guys. If we don’t get in, it’s not the end of the world. While it may be disappointing, don’t worry; You’ll probably find even greater opportunities elsewhere! Just wanted to share this with anyone who needed this reminder!! We are all more than just a decision. With that being said, I hope the next week goes well for everyone and good luck to you all!

@mikamia‌ I completely agree, God has a plan for all of us and if he sees that UNC is the best option for us than that’s where we will be. Thanks for that post, it’s a great reminder :slight_smile:

@mikamia That’s basically how I’ve stayed sane for the past few weeks; I know I don’t have to worry about my future because it’s already been planned out by God.
