@EmilyNetburn I believe someone said a few pages ago that the blog post came at 4 and the email at 6. It could be the other way around, but I believe this is it!
@college1397 Also, I’ve heard that in-state legacy wasn’t that great because so many people had it and OOS was more meaningful, but this is only what one person said on a forum so I don’t know the accuracy of it!
I agree that Friday after 4/5pm makes the most sense. Even the Morehead notifications came out after 4/5pm and were sent as an email stating to check ConnectCarolina. Information was not in the email sent, but was on the student’s ConnectCarolina account.
Below is from a UNC admissions FAQ regarding how legacy may be a consideration, or not, for admission…
I am an alumnus/a of the University. Will this be taken into consideration when my child applies?
Because we maintain close ties with our alumni and value their commitment to the University, we do ask about alumni ties on our application. For non-resident children of alumni (those whose mother, father, step-father, or step-mother attended Carolina), family ties to the University may be used in our final admission decision. Please note that legacy status cannot be derived from siblings, grandparents, or other extended family.
Family ties for the children of alumni within North Carolina are not considered in our final decisions. Since the number of alumni within the state is considerable and since the University is a state-supported institution, giving a significant advantage to their in-state children wouldn’t be fair to the other North Carolina taxpayers. However, the children of in-state alumni do fare very well in admission since they apply well-prepared to succeed at Carolina.
This just posted on Connect Carolina: “Prospective Students: Undergraduate admissions decisions are not currently available (1/27, 12 noon). This message will be updated when the decisions are released.” Looks like they’re working on it though, so hopefully in a couple of days!
Connectcarolina has a message indicating that decisions are NOT yet available (as of 1-27 at noon) and that this message will be updated when available. Just FYI
@lethallydia are you in-state or OOS?
Hey @ineversleep ! I’m OOS.
I emailed the senior admissions director today to check on things, because my ConnectCarolina account still says that my decision isn’t available. I haven’t heard back yet though.
@Radar4077 I’m glad I have a fellow Connect Carolina stalker haha. My heart still skipped a beat even though it said not.
So do we think we will be getting the email tonight with instructions?
@Hi1997 I heard we are getting an email tomorrow at 4 regarding instructions
@nyknicklover100 From whom?
@Hi1997 In the UNC Facebook group somebody posted it
Can you post a screenshot?
What facebook group?
On a side note, they’ve updated the message on ConnectCarolina so that part if it is in red writing… guess we have made them mad from checking so much (; I wish they would realize that if they just picked a release date or told us any information we would totally shut up and stop freaking out! Haha
Is that FB run by official UNC people or just kids/parents like us?
Its just kids/parents
edit
@LaxLife23 where is there red writing
