Reply from UNC:We apologize for the delay in receiving your Guest ID email. Due to the high volume of applications we’ve received in the last few days, it is taking us a little longer to load the applications into our system. Your Guest ID will be sent five business days after we upload your application.

Hey guys, general question: So I just got my IMPROVED SAT scores and have sent them to all the schools I am applying to. Is there anyway of knowing the school has received them?

Once you get your ConnectCarolina account set-up, you will be able to see all submitted standard test scores. It does, however, take some time for them to show up in the file. Best of luck to all.

I called the admissions office and they said that since everyone submitted their application the day before/on the deadline, their system was overloaded and it is taking a while to process the applications. In some cases it will take up to three weeks before everything appears in ConnectCarolina, but they have all of it. If you still are unsure of wether they received something or not, call and they can find out for your.

thanks for the info guys

Thanks for starting this thread!
Would anybody mind chancing me as an out of state student?

Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0

Weighted GPA: 4.25

Essays:
I think I had some pretty interesting essays. My common app essay was about moving to America and my UNC Essay was talking about my synesthesia.

Teacher Recommendation:
2 Recs
I had one recommendation from my English Lang teacher that I think will be excellent. He writes very formally and I think he is the best writer out of all of my recs by far. I know my chemistry teacher on a personal level so I think her rec will be pretty good too.

Counselor Rec: I’ve had my counselor write me a rec before for another thing and it was good but not anything exceptional.

Additional Rec: I also had a rec from the head of the Prevention Council who I know personally…I think her rec will be good and give insight on me outside of the classroom.

State: Virginia

School Type: Public (pretty small <1000)

Ethnicity: Black (Ethiopian)

Gender: Female

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM, first generation immigrant, female interested in the sciences

Just got my ConnectCarolina login! I have no idea how to check my admission status though - can anybody help me figure out where to find whether or not they’ve received all of my materials?

@simplejoy When you log in there should be a column on the right that says “Admissions Items” and when you click on it, it should show you everything you need to turn in.

34 ACT and a Morehead nominee, so normally I’d feel okay, but there’s that pesky thing about being OOS /: UNC is by far my first choice but without a scholarship my parents aren’t willing to pay OOS when I have a great university in my state

Carolinagirl922 UNC gives outstanding financial aid. I would have your parents fill out the FA forms. Will you have any siblings in college?

@allthingstesla We are also having a hard time figuring out ConnectCarolina. I don’t see anything about admissions items. Does it take a little bit after logging in for admission items to load?

@helpfulandtrying Oh I just remembered I was having issues at first too! So there are two student portals (why I’m not sure) but here are the steps I took:

  1. Go to connectcarolina.unc.edu (type this in directly to the search bar and DO NOT follow the link through your email because that misled me)

  2. Go to the portal that says “Login in to ConnectCarolina Student Center” (the first green bubble on the right). Do NOT go to “Login to ConnectCarolina and InfoPorte” (the second green bubble) because that is the WRONG link.

  3. Once you log in, there should be a column on the right that says “To-Do List”

Hopefully this helps!

@allthingstesla Thank you, that did it! If you have no to do’s, then the recommendations and transcripts have been received?

@helpfulandtrying Sure thing! Yes if it says you have nothing left to do then they should have received everything.

When is FAFSA due for EA?

@collegebound1516, looks like the FAFSA deadline is March 1, regardless of which admissions path you choose:

http://admissions.unc.edu/apply/deadlines/

You are considered for most merit scholarships simply by applying:

thanks @yotommy !

Has anyone asked when the Oct SAT scores will be posted?
