So ConnectCarolina won’t be closed tomorrow for us who are receiving decisions?
^^ that post left me more confused than before
It seems like you’ll be able to access connect Carolina tomorrow as long as you have your login
i’m speculating here, but so far, i’ve been right, they are doing everything they did last year and prior years. you will get instruction email today, then decision tomorrow. what they are saying is: you may or may not be able to view it tomorrow…basically, good luck if we send them out early, and you check your email, then you may be able to view it, if not…wait till 12:01am Friday morning when portal comes back up to view it.
Thank you everyone for your guys input. What time EXACTLY do they usually post the decisions? Is it midnight their time like 12:01 or idk does someone know?
I find it surprising decisions are likely to release tomorrow given the outage. It’s like a train wreck waiting to happen. Haha
@mike8888 Last year decisions released at 4PM, which would be a bit comical with CC going down at 5PM.
Maybe they’ll release today, who knows.
@wywtcm21 I would say that if they were going to wait until Friday that they would’ve updated their blog tomorrow. I definitely think that decisions will be up tomorrow and the only issue with ConnectCarolina will be if you have not created a Guest ID or you forgot your password and have to reset it.
“Note: ConnectCarolina will be unavailable the evening of Thursday, January 26 from 5:00 pm until 12:00 am. During this time, you will be unable to create your GUEST ID and reset your password to log into Connect Carolina.”
Directly from the blog. I guess this indicates that ConnectCarolina will not be down for prospective students waiting on a decision, like us.
The admission blog has just been updated with instructions to view decisions.
Has anyone received the email with instructions yet?
Hey, everyone. I’m a UNC freshman and want to clear up a few things because I know how exactly how it feels to be in your position and it sucks. Anyways, yes, if the trend for the last several years continues, you’ll all find out tomorrow whether or not you got in. I saw that the admissions blog updated with instructions to view decisions, which means you’ll more than likely receive an email with the same information at around 5:30-6 tonight (at least that’s when I got it). If you don’t receive the email immediately and other people get it before you do, DO NOT PANIC. I panicked last year because other people got the email before I did, and things worked out fine. Decisions will come out tomorrow at any time from 4-6 PM, despite the ConnectCarolina outage (which only means you can’t change password or alter your account during that time). I stalked this website, ConnectCarolina, and the admissions blog during this time last year so I know how all of you feel trying to extrapolate any sort of information from these sources. I’m 98% sure you’ll all find out tomorrow, as they are usually released on Thursdays.
If you have any other questions regarding this process, feel free to PM me or ask me on my thread so others’ questions they may have can be answered publicly: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-north-carolina-chapel-hill/1957681-im-a-unc-freshman-ask-me-anything.html#latest
Good luck and Go Heels
Quick question: Do I need to know my “Guest ID” to sign in when I view my decision, or can I just use my email address?? It works to sign into Connect Carolina with my email address now, but I don’t remember what my Guest ID is…
It looks like people with guest IDs will be able to log in, but does anyone know if a student who already has an ONYEN will be able to log in? The announcement on the ConnectCarolina portal for faculty and staff says that students won’t have access to the student center during the outage. Local high school students who take classes at UNC are considered part-time non-degree students and they have ONYENs, not guest IDs.
Nevermind-- I figured it out. Your Guest ID is your email address
According to the email I got from UNC when I first applied
“Your UNC Guest ID is the full email address you entered during the account creation process.”
Can students log in to see their decision with their regular Connect Carolina log in information, just not when the system is down (from 5-12, I think?)?
@DevilStick 4-5 in what time zone? I assume eastern so 2 pst?
yup most colleges always release decisions in the afternoon of their time zone
