I haven’t gotten it yet
my best guess would be that they will be released this Friday, as they have stated that decisions will be released at “the end of January.” I believe it is unlikely that they will be released over the weekend, or on a Monday or Tuesday. Since Tuesday is the last day in January, I believe Friday to be the most likely. Additionally, they are doing maintenance on the server tomorrow to prepare, in my humble opinion, for the influx in viewership when they are released Friday.
Just my thoughts/theories
Just got an email. No decisions today or tomorrow is what it said. It was the email on how to view decisions.
Yeah this year is really weird like for umich everyone thought decisions would come out on Dec 16 cuz they always came out the Friday before Christmas eve but this year they tweeted they wont come by the 16. they came out on Wed Dec 21 and no one was especting it. Umich prob didn’t want to wait until Friday the 23rd which is right before Christmas. So colleges def can break trends from years before
Don’t really think that is correct. UNC has around 7-10,000 more applicants in total than UVA. 40,000 for this year and UVA around 31,000 for last year. Probably no meaningful difference in difficulty for OOS, both are really difficult.
did you get into michigan?
Is there anybody who entered a preferred name on the Common App other than your legal first name? Chapel Hill always emails me by my legal name, and when I initially received my instructions for ConnectCarolina it told me to enter in my email and my legal first and last name.
Email: insert my email here
First name: insert my legal first name here
Last name: insert my last name here
This email when it gives me the option to create a ConnectCarolina if I haven’t made one, it tells me to enter my email, preferred first name and legal last name.
Email: insert my email here
First name: insert my preferred name here
Last name: insert my last name here
It’s probably nothing I just don’t want my information to be split between two accounts for some reason.
Anybody else dealing with the same thing?
Yeah I did so its ok if I don’t ger into unc since umich in state tuition is a better value anyway unless I get the Robertson scholarship @hbaugh1
Anyone else still not get the email about decisions? It seems odd that it’s not all being sent at the same time
@adp106 Yup, I entered my preferred name in the Common Application and I had to enter it again in Connect Carolina. This is probably due to Common App being separate from Connect Carolina.
I just got the email. They must be sending them in waves.
Has anyone received any notification about merit scholarships/interviews yet?
@sunshinemiracle But when I first created my ConnectCarolina I didn’t have to enter my preferred name, I had to enter my legal name. Only now is it giving me instructions to create the Guest ID under my preferred name (although it says only if you haven’t already made one which I have). I just find it odd that they would ask my once with my legal name and then again 3 months later with a different name.
I feel like they’re joking. I know that they’re not, but why go through all the trouble of making a blog post and sending an email out to 20,000+ people to say what most people would have assumed anyway.
@Carolinaorbust Who knows with UNC? They might just said that to get people calm. They might pull a surprise and release them tomorrow but I would not bet on that.
I don’t understand why all schools can’t just give a specific date. Three schools my daughter applied to give specific dates and they release on those dates. One had 2 or 3 EA dates the others just released all on one day. The schools are as big as unc, one much bigger. This just seems ridiculous in this day and age.
@sunshinemiracle you’re probably right, still seems a little odd. It would definitely be an interesting way to get an interesting way to get an admissions decision
@waf107 I agree completely! The other five schools I have heard from actually got back to me before the announced date or “range” they had (if they hadn’t gotten back to me so quickly, I would’ve been annoyed about no specific date). This whole “end of January” thing has had me thinking “maybe today…” for the past week or so.
My friend applied in state at the end of August, and his decision was available last week. Anyone else experience this? I thought they came out at the same time
Don’t listen to them ^^ they only joined five minutes ago. Probably just another person trying to screw with us!
