UNC Class of 2021 EA

No, I’m actually serious. I joined specifically to ask this question because I am just as anxious as anyone else, so I wanted to know if they come out in waves or not!!

Just something to keep in mind but it is good to be calm; I just found this interesting: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-north-carolina-chapel-hill/1821047-unc-class-of-2020-ea-discussion-thread-p51.html

This is beyond stressful

My son, who never follows any decision dates, mentioned today he heard at school that decisions are coming out on Friday.

@preggg Are you sure your friend wasn’t referring to State? State released decisions last week. UNC has not released and does not do so on a rolling basis. Unless he is an athlete and going in through the athletic program?

@44lincoln I agree; it is. Based on everything, I would say admissions would probably be out tomorrow or Friday. I would take what they said with a grain of salt in that email since stuff like this has happened in the past to try to quell people’s worries about it. I have a feeling it might be tomorrow. I would just keep the possibilities open.

My DD just got this email :
Thank you again for applying for admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We remain grateful for your interest and have enjoyed getting to know you as we reviewed your application.

How crazy is this an email that basically says not today or tomorrow but doesn’t say exactly when she can expect a decision?..I am appalled and confused that such a prestigious school cant give an exact date for EA decisions …come on now this isn’t. Harvard!

i know it’s frustrating but i guess public universities don’t give exact dates for releases like privates do. for example umich is very secretive about it, and when you ask them they will just say by dec 24 like unc says by jan 31. not very helpful

@Cubanmom3 You said it! Couldn’t agree more!

I mean no disrespect to UNC but really is it to much to ask to get an exact date??? Many more prestigious schools with many more applicants can do this so UNC should really be able to give a less ambiguous response. This email was totally useless!

UVM gives a specific date and the decision was provided timely. There is no excuse. The know approx how many apps they will get, how long each needs for a decision and how many employees they have to do the work, add an extra week or so for the unexpected and then you have a date. Also I find it hard to believe at this point they r still deciding on some, they have the decisions they should be released instead of a coy email restating what everyone already knows.

I still haven’t gotten the email yet, Should I be worried?

umich is also a very prestigious public university and would not give an exact date even the day that decisions came out people were asking them and they just said soon. way to be ambiguous michigan! on the other hand, johns hopkins just sent me an email today saying decisions will be out march 17 at 3 pm. way to be exact so early!

My DD found it in her spam … don’t worry it doesn’t say anything that will help you. Basically not today not tomorrow…who knows when…useless

While I understand the frustration, I would not say the email was totally useless. First thing I noticed was the email is NOT from admissions. It is from unchelp which right off the bat tells me it’s driven by their IT department. If you scan through any of these threads on days where schools are releasing decisions, it’s unbelievable how many kids never set up their portal accounts and/ or don’t remember their password. This email was, in my opinion, not to provide an update on decisions but to get those who have not yet set up their accounts to do so between now and 5pm tomorrow when the system goes down. If they release decisions on Friday afternoon shortly before their office closes and kids have to wait until Monday because they didn’t set up their account, that’s a miserable weekend for someone’s child (and family).

@Cubanmom3 THANK YOU! It was in my spam! I know it has nothing really important on it but still…my mind races to conclusions…

Anyways…I’m still checking it tomorrow… Can’t hurt right?

@BRANDONWM I know how you feel …my daughter is in the same boat. Many blessings to you and know that you will end up where you were meant to be … this is my third college admissions round so I speak from experience. Stay calm

how will we know when decisions are posted? will we receive another email??

pulled these dates from the 2020 ea thread:
1-21-11 at 12:00pm (fri)
1-19-12 at 9:30am (thurs)
1-25-13 at 11:30am (fri)
1-30-14 at 3:30pm (thurs)
1-28-15 at 3:45 pm (wed)
and 1-28-16 at 4:25pm (thurs)

so, I’d be surprised if they didn’t release decisions by Friday. I’m personally still leaning towards a Thursday release, despite the email

and @mcf010 as far as I know you just have to keep checking the connectcarolina page

@mcf010 We might but if you check the ConnectCarolina page when you first log in, they have red text that will tell you. I would say either today or tomorrow. But I would keep a look out for tomorrow or Friday.
