UNC Class of 2022 EA Discussion Thread

@Bella2018 If I were you, I would shoot an email to the admissions office or even call them to let them know. It’s possible that they caught it and assumed you clicked the wrong thing, but that isn’t something you should count on. Also, taking initiative will probably reflect well on you as a prospective student. No matter what happens, taking action is better than doing nothing. The admissions office seems pretty friendly as well, so I don’t think they’ll be hard to talk to.

Thank you both! I’ll email them tomorrow, so they don’t think I’m some weirdo trying to improve/figure out their admissions chances in the middle of the night (which, of course, I am)

@Bella2018 Lol good call! Best of luck! :slight_smile:

@Bella2018 Someone did this in a different college’s thread; it was fine. Obviously they realized you selected the wrong one by accident- they are not dumb, and they know that you are not dumb for accidentally picking it. Calling/emailing the admissions office would be a nuisance, as everything is already set in stone. They wouldn’t reject you because you accidentally selected the wrong prompt.

lol I already emailed and left a voicemail for admissions. I figured it can’t hurt, but I hope you’re right that it won’t worsen my chances!

@Bella2018. I agree with @lesjubilants . I’m sure this happens more than you think, and I’d only reach out to clear it up if you are deferred. I have heard some admissions folks say they don’t even read the prompts – they just read the essays so they might not have even realized. And if they did, I’m sure they quickly moved on and didn’t give it a second thought. I can’t imagine this playing a big factor in acceptance (or not) so try not to worry.

Quick question – does anyone know if merit scholarship information is included with EA acceptance notification or does that come later / separately? I know it’s long shot either way – just wondering about timing.

I am so worried… I know there is not much for me to do anymore, and I know this isn’t an end all be all, but Im still nervous. UNC was my reach school so I knew it was going to be hard from the get-go qnd seeing all of your scores comparable to mine is insane. I wish the best of luck to all of you in the upcoming days. I just wish I knew what the work I am currently doing is going to weigh against my high school work.

I was also wondering that, @AlmostThere2018 . Though I doubt an OOS gal like myself would have much of a shot at acceptance much less scholarship $$. (ps I like your username haha)

I’m very curious as to when it might come out, does anybody have stats on when it came out last year or the expected release date? (if you respond please tag me in your answer, thank you)

My dad graduated from UNC, and I applied there this year as an OOS legacy. We got a letter back in December regarding the chances for OOS to get in. OOS legacy applicants have a 40% chance compared to OOS non-legacy applicants’ 15%. Best of luck to you.

Just saw on UNC admissions twitter that “we promise decisions are coming.” My guess is that means decisions will be this friday, but you never know. Kind of nervous as OOS NY but well see!

@sarahwilde lol must be nice

I mentioned UNC specifically and my admissions advisor said that it was wise to do so. However, I don’t think that this would be any reason they would see your response as any worse in quality, and it certainly wont be a reason for being denied or accepted.

@ivakk ^^^

“We promise decisions are coming”? These guys watch too much reality/contest TV

And the results of your application…to UNC…at Chapel Hill…for the class…of 2022…will be revealed after these messages.

I was wondering if you guys think the topic of my essay could possibly be a hook. I wrote about how during my freshman year I turned in a teacher at my school for sexually assaulting my best friend. I reported him and testified under oath to send him to prison. I want to go to law school and advocate for sexual assault victims in the future.

@justtrying77 It wouldn’t necessarily be a “hook” as being first gen, URM or legacy would be, but if well written then the essay will definitely work in your favor. that is quite a story!

I saw another person who posted they received a letter with the stats information after they applied as well. I do not recall getting this letter. I wonder if this a letter they only sent to the people who will actually be admitted. @AlmostThere2018 @sarahwilde Did anyone else receive a letter with these stats after they applied EA? :frowning:

@crg0613 Maybe it’s only for people that indicated they are a legacy.
