Unc ea 2025

January 2016 had the same layout with dates as January 2021 has. That year, they released on Thursday the 28th.

Ik its kinda late. I just want some opinions, I got 40/45 IB predicted and Im out of state and chose to apply test-optional. Do I have a chance?

Other stats like gpa, sat/act? EC’s?

does anyone know the official OOS acceptance rate? I find different ones every website I go on

I believe that it is 18% OOS

Sorry - to clarify, 18% of admissions are OOS. That is not the OOS admission rate if that makes sense. I spoke too soon.

What about OOS legacy??

I don’t think the admission rate would be different necessarily, it’s just a little boost.

Actually, UNC legacies get quite a boost – not sure exact percentage, but it’s significant according to a letter that the admissions office sends to alumni when their kids apply.

Looks like a big boost compared to 13%

UNC rejects/waitlists a fair share of high stat applicants, perfect SAT’s, valedictorians. That’s the thing - virtually everyone who applies there has high stats, great EC’s, awesome LOR’s…that’s the first thing they said in the admissions presentation. There’s gotta be something else in the application and the essays that stands out.

Legacies only get a minor boost if they are an out of state applicant.

Unless things have changed, UNC considers legacy for OOS, but not much for in-state because there’s so many in-state legacy applicants.

Based on past stats OOS legacy have about 2x acceptance rate of OOS non-legacy. Acceptance rate is only slightly higher for in-state legacy vs in-state non-legacy.

There is no in state legacy boost. The out of state legacy acceptance rate is 40% per the article and the letter that UNC mails out.

I don’t think that any school will question why someone didn’t send a test score. A lot of students, my daughter included, could not get a test. She was scheduled for 5 different SAT test dates that were all cancelled because of the pandemic. You can’t fault a kid that doesn’t have an opportunity to take the test.

For kids in NC the state ACT was given in February, so most kids have a test score. I don’t think that UNC will necessarily hold it against them, but they know they have a score.

It is a huge boost to be a legacy OOS at UNC. Everyone who has gotten in at our school in the last 5 years is a legacy. And there are valedictorians in the same classes who did not.

UGA is a great example of how test optional will work. Their 25/75 ACT was 32-34 - so waaaaay up. Yet 30% of kids got in without a test - so if it weren’t test optional, their scores would not have been that high.

Test optional definitely brings more kids who only took the test once or just didn’t score high enough but want to take a shot. And some will get in.

Florida is the best chance for those with average to above test scores to get in. It’s the only state not test optional. Apparently 12K kids applied to UF without a score; they were taking it within the allotted time. If you take one test and get a 25, etc. you’re not getting into UF or FSU. Maybe UCF or USF. All other states have gone optional. So stats will be higher of those who do take the tests as happened at UGA.

Yes. OOS legacy is a huge boost.

UGA test scores for EA were not “waaay” up at all. EA ACT for class of 2020 was 31-34.

OK - maybe my data is off. I’m looking at their website, it says admitted students (not EA) last year 30-34. I got off Niche 27-32. Still 32 on the low end is Emory like…it’s strong.
