just wondering if the application essays change y2y or not
thanks in advance

the essays were basically 2 whatever-you-want essays…don’t know if those were the exact instructions, but it was incredibly easy to sub in essays from my CA.

Yes they do, but they often have at least one or two that are very similar. But they also have a few more specific different topics. And like allgood said, there’s always a choice to use an essay from another school as long as you give them the topic and explain why you chose it.

As others have said, some change; some don’t. But if you apply to Common App schools, you can use that as your long essay. That only leaves a 250 word essay to complete over the summer or first semester senior year.

Are the applications that used essays used from the CommonApp viewed differently than the applications that wrote essays using the UNC prompts?

^I can assure they are not. I had the same question a few months ago when was hurrying to do the essays, and decided to use a draft of my CommonApp essay. I was accepted.
I agree. This worked for me and saved me from writing a mediocre essay for UNC at the last minute. The CommonApp gave me more options to write what I wanted to write about than UNC’s app did. I think it’s better to write one great essay and reuse it than it is to write a couple different ordinary essays to fit different schools.
