I'm a potential transfer to unc-ch next year, and I was wondering if anybody could tell me about transfer student life there. If I go to UNC, I'll go not knowing a soul on campus. I plan on rushing a frat, and I like to snowboard and go backpacking a lot, and play some other club sports, but I'm not sure if that'll be enough to make solid friendships and I know that UNC has a slight reputation for having lots of kids from NC and them being wary of outsiders. Thanks for the help.

also I’d be a sophomore living in the dorms if that’s possible.

You’ll be fine. I was an transfer (in-state from an OOS school) and my best friend was an OOS transfer and neither of us had any problems. Particularly if you are living in the dorms, there will be tons of new people that are also trying to meet people. Just keep your door open, be friendly, go to the frat rush parties in the first couple weeks of school, and go to Fall Fest, where you can sign up for various student organizations.
