UNC Scholarships

I'm in love with UNC. I'm praying that I get accepted, as I'm an OOS and it's already hard enough trying to get into UNC! However, if I DO happen to get in I would really want to go here. The only way I would be able to go here is if I can get some sort of aid to help me out. As an OOS, the cost is around $45,000. For my family, that's ridiculous. The only way I'll be able to attend is if the cost is less than $30,000 (in-state for UNC is about $26,000).

I heard that UNC offers many scholarships. I also heard that some of these scholarships are for OOS applicants that, if they're granted them, they will be awarded an in-state tuition fee instead of the OOS. That would be perfect for me. Any scholarship that would be $10,000 or more would help me substantially and would even let my parents allow me to go to UNC!

How do I apply for these scholarships? I went on their website and did lots of research but I only found information about what the scholarship is not on how to apply.
Do I wait until after I get accepted into the actual college and they'll then automatically enter me for scholarships?
Do I apply now?

Well for most scholarships I’m aware of outside the Robertson and maybe the Carolina Covenant (I think those are in-state only), you can’t actually directly apply–at least initially. Pretty much everything is based on your UNC application; from that, admissions determines your candidacy for Scholarship Day, Honors Carolina/Excel@Carolina (the latter of which includes a few scholarship opportunities as well), Pogue Scholars, and maybe a few more (?). After these specific invites come out there’s usually a second component of applying through either interview or a formal application.

You missed the deadlines for the Morehead-Cain and Robertson scholarships. Those are the largest scholarships for in-state and out-of-state students. Rest of the scholarships you will find out after acceptance.
