I have narrowed my decision down to both UNC (OOS) and OSU in-state. OSU would cost my family about $20,000 less per year, so is there any justification for spending the extra money to attend UNC? I want to major in International Business. I have always wanted to go away for school and would not be overly ecstatic to attend OSU, but I don't want my emotions to deter me from making a realistic decision..

Have you recieved your financial aid decision back yet? Also have you visited either campus? Why don’t you take those issues into consideration, then make a pro and con list for each school and next to each pro and con list how significant that particular issue is to you (like on a scale of one to five) then viola! (I’ve been accepted to UNC and thats my top choice! )

How rich are your parents? Would the extra money sting them?

all I got from UNC was a $5500 loan, and same from OSU so the “aid” won’t really help. My parents say they will pay up to $25,000 per year

While UNC is a great school, I feel that tOSU is a great school too. The fisher college is very reputable, and i would see no justification in paying 20k more per year. If it was economically easy i would say visit and if it was the greatest thing too you, then go, but since your parents are willing to pay what OSU costs, you might as well go there… Good luck, they are both great schools.

I agree - I live in NC, went to OSU. OSU is just as good a school as UNC - I firmly believe the only reason it is not more highly rated is its higher acceptance rate. This is counteracted by the fact that OSU has a lower graduation rate as the bottom of the heap drops out. Teacher student ratio is similar and OSU, being a bigger school, has more majors and courses.
