My DD was admitted to UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Greensboro, NCSU-NC State, Elon, Wake Forest, Appalachian State and UNCSA-UNC School to the Arts. She worked very hard and is very fortunate to have all of these choices. She has narrowed her choices down to pursuing a BFA in D&P with focus on scene design which brings her choices down to either UNCSA or UNCG. Any advice/suggestions on comparing these 2 programs? The main difference I see is choosing between a conservatory vs a regular college; of course employment opportunities is very important also. Thanks!
@nikatnight04 I would give the edge to UNCSA. Given that your daughter has a good sense of what she wants, UNCSA is an outstanding environment. She will have awesome opportunities while in school; and while there are never any guarantees-I can’t imagine a better “boost” in her career than 4 years in an environment that touts, “We create here.”
That said-UNCG IS a great arts school. Congrats on your D’s admits. I too have a D who got into UNC Chapel Hill (and State), and won’t be attending, due to major!
UNCSA all the way. Congrats on all the great acceptances.
The general manager of a Tony award winning regional theatre said UNCSA grads are the only tech people that he’s willing to hire straight out of school.
Wow! Thank you. Very helpful.
@owensfolks what major is your D interested in? What school did she decide on?
@nikatnight04 she is hoping to pursue a BFA MT, and a deposit is in, but we aren’t announcing her plans just yet. Congrats again. My D is at UNCSA this year-and it’s been the best year of her life.
Thank you and congrats to your D @owensfolks!
My DD picked UNCSA!
Congrats!
