UNCSA

Thanks! We are so thrilled!

Congratulations!!

Congrats @cjenny2‌ ! And @2019theatremom, all we know is that there was some movement in the class in late June last year that helped my D. I think it was probably more of a situation where more girls decided to go to other schools and UNCSA was left with not enough girls. And then a guy moving on too (connections son) meant numbers were too low. It was a most exciting day in our house when they called though!!

UNCSA drama rejection letter received today. Auditioned Sunday, Feb 15.

@dramamom0804 I remember when you posted how excited your D was to become a Fighting Pickle. I can only imagine what a call like that over the summer does to a person!

I’m not sure how I would handle a situation where a call comes 1 month before school starts. I want my D to move on from the rejections and get excited and invested in a school that accepts her earlier in the process. I’m tempted to tell the school that “broke her heart” to not call her under any circumstances late in the game because I’ve heard of it happening on several occasions. She has some great options, and they want her to sign forms saying that she is committing to them, and I don’t blame them, unless there’s some unforeseen hardship.

You can take yourself off the wait list if you feel that way. It’s totally up to you and your daughter.

@limbo2019 - like everything else, it’s a personal choice. My D had an awkward situation with BU last year that I have described (denied in portal, then email that there was a mistake and she was waitlisted, the eventually accepted) the acceptance came in May, and by that time she knew where she wanted to be, but I can envision a situation where she might have felt differently

I understand that every situation has it’s own unique set of circumstances. I’m just saying that my D’s dream school has a history of late summer phone calls, and I really don’t want her switching gears in the 11th hour because this particular school comes calling… They had their chance, in my opinion, they blew it.

If you don’t want to be on their waitlist after a certain point - just let them know, I am sure they would be happy to take care of that.

Just received rejection

I have scoured my email and kind find any trace of EZ Arts login info. Do they send physical letters as well? Does anyone know how I can retrieve that info?

HannahMTheatre, my daughter was admitted to UNSCA. She received a phone call on 3/1, and then a physical letter came last week. I don’t know anything about the EZ arts login at all, so I can’t help you with that. However, you could possibly call the drama office there, if you need information. They are helpful and kind. Best of luck to you!

My D interviewed for Film on Feb 7th

Received the ‘still in the running’ email on Feb 16th

Received the ‘you’ve been recommended’ email on March 2nd

Received the official acceptance letter email attachment March 4th

We never received any phone calls

@HannahMTheatre - I’m not 100% on this, but I think we received our official acceptance packet in the mail and then mailed in the deposit. Upon receiving the deposit my D received an email with the information to set up her EZ Arts email ID. I might be confusing the student ID and the email, if so, someone correct me!

We are very excited!!

My D, husband and I just returned from the Accepted Students weekend at UNSCA last night. What a weekend! Were any CCers there? We were so impressed with the faculty, the facilities, and the workshops they offered the students. Their production of The Homecoming, which we all got to see, was out of this world.

Interestingly, 3 of the students there also received admittance calls from CMU at the same time. According to my daughter, 2 out of the 3 were leaning heavily toward going to UNSCA instead. I think they were able to see the high quality of the training there, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. All for half the price! Apparently, UNSCA has never done an accepted students weekend before. I hope they continue to offer it in the years to come. The kids all seemed to love it, and I think it solidified most kids’ decisions to pick UNSCA over other offers.

I think it was for Acting BFA’s only? We did not receive an invite. My son will be attending UNCSA in the Scenic Technology BFA. We are going up to visit, sit in on some classes, and see Guys and Dolls on April 10th. We have been to open houses and seen a few shows at UNCSA and we love the school.

Cjenny2, yes this particular weekend was just for the acting BFAs. I don’t know if the Design department is planning anything similar. It was a great weekend. The only bad part was getting my daughter in the car to come home. She was so sad to leave!

I had no idea how pretty the campus was, or how nice the facilities were. I really was blown away, and I am not an easy sell. Go Pickles!

@YardleySisa Glad that you enjoyed the campus. My son is so excited about being a Fighting Pickle!

It really is beautiful, @YardleySisa‌! I’m sure you’re happy that your daughter enjoyed the weekend so much!

BUMP! let’s bring this thread back for this year!!! only one more weekend of auditions left.
