Undecided Major: How's My Tentative College Schedule (Freshman)

Right now I don't have a specific major in mind (although I'm leaning towards Theater--with a Film Studies/Production concentration) at a top LAC. I tried to chose classes that I had interest in and seemed practical for someone in my case. Here it is:

(1) Calculus I (MATH 105-E) ---> On MWRF at 11AM to 11:55AM

(2) Beginning Japanese I (JPN 101) ---> On MTWRF at 12:05 PM to 1:00 PM

(3) An Introduction to Drama: Theater and Film (THEA 101-A) ---> On MW at 1:10 PM to 2:30 PM

(4) First Year Seminar: "The End of the World" (FYS 414) ---> On TR at 1:10 PM to 2:30 PM

How's the timing of these courses? Is it good that these courses are stacked on each other in regards to the time they start and finish? Is the workload manageable?

depends on how you like to learn. I prefer not to have breaks between classes and not to have classes right after lunch. you may like your classes more evenly spaced out.

this schedule seems fine in terms of balance, so try and stick it out this semester, and next semester, you will have feedback on what you liked and didn’t like about class timing.

Damn, I just realized that I won’t have room for lunch in my schedule. My two options in order to keep my schedule the way it is would be to either choose a later Calculus I course from 2:40 PM to 4:00 PM on MWF (I’d have Calc for 1 less day, which is good, but I don’t like long classes and it’s 30 min. longer) or keep it the way it is and skip lunch (yeah, I don’t like that idea).

You don’t have to eat lunch at noon. Your 11 o’clock class starts late enough to where you could eat breakfast and just need a a snack like granola bars in your short breaks.

I think the first option posted is a good schedule if you like not having lots of breaks in between. Your day will probably go pretty fast.

Then next semester you can see how you liked this pacing and keep it or ditch it.

I think that schedule is fine. I dont like having breaks between classes because I find it hard tootivate myself to go to class more than once a day lol. If you ate a late breakfast then you should be fine with a snack until your last class gets out and you can eat lunch. I would go talk with professors or advisors in the majors you’re looking at to make sure the classes you’re taking fit in the requirements. Also, speaking with the professors might help you to make the decision! Most professors are great and like to talk to students about their field.

*to motivate Sorry!
