Undeclared classes?

Hello , so I’m a soon-to-be freshman and I’ve been accepted to UIUC into the Division of General Studies (DGS), though I applied for chemical engineering. I really, really, really DON’T want to take gen eds (English, foreign Lang, social science, etc) my freshman year and would much rather just take STEM classes and transfer into chemical engineering my sophomore year. I was just wondering, is it possible to take only STEM classes as an “undecided” student, or do you have to take a variety, like English and humanities and whatnot?

You can definitely take whatever classes you want, assuming you can get into them. So expect to sign up for intro Chem/Physics and Calc. The only issue is that it looks like CHEM202 is restricted for majors, so you’ll probably need to grab a spot later when it opens up or get in contact with someone for an override. If you’re looking to transfer try to contact the ChemE advisers and they can help you with course selection.

@literallymarx great thanks so much!!
