UNDECLARED MAJOR at UCSD

I got accepted into UCSD (John Muir), but I was placed as Undeclared Major.
How hard would it be to get into Computer Engineering or Computer Science as my major??

A quick search of the UCSD subforum will show that it’s extremely difficult to transfer into CSE and ECE, basically a lottery. Other options, like data science and cognitive science, do exist.

@DoctorP
Should I even attend to UCSD then? The only school that accepted my major was UCR and Fullerton.
(UCI and UCSB accepted me but I was also placed as undeclared in both.)

If CSE or CS are the only majors you would consider studying, then go for UCR or CSU Fullerton. If you are willing to be flexible with your major, then consider the other 3 options. CS/CSE will be difficult to switch into at all the UC’s but UCI may be the easiest of the three. Even if you meet all the UCI requirements, there is still no guarantee you will be able to change majors.

@Lundysstudentt Gumbymom has the right idea. If you’re willing to do something else/tangentially relevant to CS, consider UCSD or the other UCs. They’ll still probably let you pursue careers in software engineering. If you’re dead set on CS or CE, go to UCR or Fullerton.
